Abstract

Voltage-controlled quantum dynamics of two quantum-dot molecules (QDMs) embedded in two separated photonic crystal cavities are theoretically investigated. We show numerically that generation of entangled states and population transfer between the two QDMs can be realized with the same coupling parameters. The effects of parameters deviation and dissipations on generation entangled states and populations transfer are also discussed. The results may be used for realization of new-type of solid state quantum devices and integrated electro-optical devices.

Voltage-controlled entanglement and quantum-information transfer between spatially separated quantum-dot molecules

Xin‐You Lü, Jing Wu, Lili Zheng +1 more

We propose two schemes for generating entanglement and quantum-state transfer (QST) between two spatially separated semiconductor quantum dot molecules (QDMs) based on voltage-controlled tunneling effects. In the present schemes, two QDMs are trapped in two spatially separated cavities connected by a fiber. By numerically simulating the evolution of the system, we show that the generation of entanglement and QST can be controlled by an external gate voltage in our schemes. Moreover, proposed schemes are robust against the noise of system parameters.

Generation of a multi-qubit W entangled state through spatially separated semiconductor quantum-dot-molecules in cavity-quantum electrodynamics arrays

Siping Liu, Rong Yu, Jiahua Li +1 more

Generating entangled states attract tremendous interest as the most vivid manifestation of nonlocality of quantum mechanics and also for emerging applications in quantum information processing (QIP). Here, we propose theoretically a scheme for the deterministic generation of a three-qubit W sate with three semiconductor quantum-dot-molecules (QDMs) trapped in spatially separated cavities connected by optical fibers. The proposed scheme takes full advantage of the voltage-controlled tunnelling effects in QDMs, which induces the quantum coherence and further controls the generation of the W entangled state. The influences of the system parameters and various decoherence processes including spontaneous decay and photon leakage on the fidelity of the W state are discussed in details. Numerical results indicate that our scheme is not only robust against these decoherence factors but also insensitive to the deviation of the system parameters from the ideal conditions. Furthermore, the present scheme can be directly extended to realize an N-qubit W state. Also, this scheme can be generically transferred to other physical systems, including circuit quantum electrodynamics and photonic crystal cavities. The results obtained here may be useful in real experiments for realizing QIP in a solid-state platform.

Creation of quantum entanglement with two separate diamond nitrogen vacancy centers coupled to a photonic molecule

Siping Liu, Rong Yu, Jiahua Li +1 more

We explore the entanglement generation and the corresponding dynamics between two separate nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond nanocrystal coupled to a photonic molecule consisting of a pair of coupled photonic crystal (PC) cavities. By calculating the entanglement concurrence with readily available experimental parameters, it is found that the entanglement degree strongly depends on the cavity-cavity hopping strength and the NV-center-cavity detuning. High concurrence peak and long-lived entanglement plateau can be achieved by properly adjusting practical system parameters. Meanwhile, we also discuss the influence of the coupling strength between the NV centers and the cavity modes on the behavior of the concurrence. Such a PC-NV system can be employed for quantum entanglement generation and represents a building block for an integrated nanophotonic network in a solid-state cavity quantum electrodynamics platform. In addition, the present theory can also be applied to other similar systems, such as two single quantum emitters positioned close to a microtoroidal resonator with the whispering-gallery-mode fields propagating inside the resonator.

Voltage-controlled multipartite entanglement with distant quantum dot molecules via adiabatic-varying tunnel coupling

Anshou Zheng, Yongjin Cheng, Ji-Bing Liu

An alternative voltage-controlled scheme is proposed for the generation of an N-qubit W state with distant self-assembled semiconductor quantum dot molecules (QDMs) via adiabatic-varying tunnel coupling. The N semiconductor QDMs are trapped in N spatially separated cavities coupled with N−1 fibers. The present scheme takes full advantage of adiabatic passage and the exceptional features of semiconductor QDMs. The decoherence caused by the excited state spontaneous emission and the fiber loss was efficiently suppressed. In addition, our calculations show that the present scheme is robust against the deviation of the parameters.

Generation of a two photon entangled states from a quantum dot embedded in a microcavity

Jitendra Kumar Verma, Pradyumna K. Pathak

We propose methods for generating entangled two photon state. Where, a single quantum dot is embedded in a photonic microcavity having two orthogonal modes. The quantum dot is off- resonantly coupled to the cavity through phonon mediated coupling. The emitted photons are entangled either in polarization degrees of freedom or in numbers. We also discuss effect of exciton- phonon coupling on entanglement.

Fast generation of entangled photon pairs from a single quantum dot embedded in a photonic crystal cavity

Pradyumna K. Pathak, Stephen Hughes

We present a scheme for the fast generation of entangled photons from a single quantum dot coupled to a planar photonic crystal that support two orthogonally polarized cavity modes. We discuss ``within generation'' and ``across generation'' of entangled photons when both biexciton to exciton, and exciton to ground state transitions, are coupled through cavity modes. In the across generation, the photon entanglement is restored through a time delay between the photons. The two photon concurrence, which is a measure of entanglement, is greater than 0.7 and 0.8 using experimentally achievable parameters in across generation and within generation, respectively. We also show that the entanglement can be distilled in both cases using a simple spectral filter.
