Abstract

We investigate continuous variable entanglement produced in two distant coupled cavities, in which two four-level atoms are driven by classical fields respectively. Under the large detuning condition, an effective Hamiltonian containing the square of the creation (annihilation) operator of the cavity field is derived. Due to the nonlinearity, entanglement formally created by the beam splitter type interaction is transformed into the nondegenerate parametric down conversion type. Employing the operator algebraic method, we study the time evolution of the entanglement condition, and show that the system provides us an advantage in achieving a larger photon number with better entanglement. We also discuss the dissipation of the cavities affecting the entanglement.

Efficient creation of continuous-variable entanglement for two atomic ensembles in coupled cavities

Jie Song, Xiudong Sun, Yan Xia +1 more

We investigate the generation of continuous-variable (CV) entanglement of two separated atomic ensembles in coupled cavities. We find that under certain conditions, the entanglement between the two ensembles is gained periodically when the three-level $\ensuremath{\Lambda}$-type atoms in each ensemble dispersively interact with one classical field and one cavity mode. Generation of the entangled state does not completely depend on the cavity photon number. In addition, the effect of decoherence can be suppressed effectively.

Continuous-Variable Entanglement Generation from a Four-State Atom under Raman Excitation

Ting-Ting Zha, Aixi Chen, Wen‐Xing Yang

We investigate the generation and the evolution of continuous-variable (CV) entanglement from a laser-driven four-state atom inside a doubly resonant cavity under Raman excitation. Two transitions in the four-state atom independently interact with the two cavity modes, while two other transitions are driven by coupling laser fields. By including the atomic relaxation as well as cavity losses, we show that the CV entanglement with large mean number of photons can be generated in our scheme. We also show that the intensity of the coupling laser fields can influence effectively the entanglement period of the cavity field. Different from the conventional resonant excitation scheme where zero one-photon detuning are required, it is found that the intensity and period of entanglement between the two cavity modes as well as the total mean photon number of the cavity field can be adjusted by properly modulating the frequency detuning.

Generation of continuous-variable entanglement in a two-mode four-level single-atom driven by microwave

Song Ming-yu, WU Yao-de

In this paper, we discuss the generation and evolution of continuous-variable entanglement in a two-mode single-atom laser, where the atomic coherence is induced by two classical microwave fields, which drive the corresponding fine atomic transitions. The results show that the intensity of the microwave field can influence effectively the entanglement properties of the cavity field. In addition, our numerical results also show that the intensity and the period of entanglement between the two cavity modes as well as the total mean photon number of the cavity field can be increased synchronously by adjusting the corresponding frequency detuning.

This paper investigate the generation and evolution of continuous-variable entanglement in a two-mode single-atom laser, where the atomic coherence is induced by two classical laser fields (pump and coupling field) driving the corresponding atom transitions. It is found that the intensity of the coupling field can influence effectively the entanglement period of the cavity field. More importantly, our numerical results also show that the intensity and period of entanglement between the two cavity modes as well as the total mean photon number of the cavity field can be increased synchronously by adjusting the corresponding frequency detuning.

Generation of long-living entanglement between two distant three-level atoms in non-Markovian environments

Chuang Li, Sen Yang, Jie Song +2 more

In this paper, a scheme for the generation of long-living entanglement between two distant Λ-type three-level atoms separately trapped in two dissipative cavities is proposed. In this scheme, two dissipative cavities are coupled to their own non-Markovian environments and two three-level atoms are driven by the classical fields. The entangled state between the two atoms is produced by performing Bell state measurement (BSM) on photons leaving the dissipative cavities. Using the time-dependent Schördinger equation, we obtain the analytical results for the evolution of the entanglement. It is revealed that, by manipulating the detunings of classical field, the long-living stationary entanglement between two atoms can be generated in the presence of dissipation.

Efficient Scheme for Entangling Two Distant Atoms

LU Dao-ming, Zheng Shi-Biao

A scheme is presented for the generation of entangled states for two atoms trapped in two distant cavities. In the scheme each atom is resonantly coupled with the respective cavity mode and driven by a strong classical field. The detection of a photon decaying from the cavities and passing through a beam-splitter collapses the atoms to an entangled state. The required atom-field interaction time is very short and thus the decoherence effect is suppressed. Our scheme is within the reach of presently available cavity QED techniques.
