Abstract

We investigate the generation of continuous-variable (CV) entanglement of two separated atomic ensembles in coupled cavities. We find that under certain conditions, the entanglement between the two ensembles is gained periodically when the three-level $\ensuremath{\Lambda}$-type atoms in each ensemble dispersively interact with one classical field and one cavity mode. Generation of the entangled state does not completely depend on the cavity photon number. In addition, the effect of decoherence can be suppressed effectively.

Continuous variable entanglement generation in coupled cavities

Guixia Pan, Ruijie Xiao, Ling Zhou

We investigate continuous variable entanglement produced in two distant coupled cavities, in which two four-level atoms are driven by classical fields respectively. Under the large detuning condition, an effective Hamiltonian containing the square of the creation (annihilation) operator of the cavity field is derived. Due to the nonlinearity, entanglement formally created by the beam splitter type interaction is transformed into the nondegenerate parametric down conversion type. Employing the operator algebraic method, we study the time evolution of the entanglement condition, and show that the system provides us an advantage in achieving a larger photon number with better entanglement. We also discuss the dissipation of the cavities affecting the entanglement.

Continuous-variable entanglement in a two-mode four-level single-atom laser

Xin‐You Lü, Jibing Liu, Liu-Gang Si +1 more

This paper investigate the generation and evolution of continuous-variable entanglement in a two-mode single-atom laser, where the atomic coherence is induced by two classical laser fields (pump and coupling field) driving the corresponding atom transitions. It is found that the intensity of the coupling field can influence effectively the entanglement period of the cavity field. More importantly, our numerical results also show that the intensity and period of entanglement between the two cavity modes as well as the total mean photon number of the cavity field can be increased synchronously by adjusting the corresponding frequency detuning.

Continuous-variable entanglement via an incoherent pump in a microwave-driven Λ-type single-atom laser

Xiangying Hao, Xin‐You Lü, Li Liu +1 more

We investigate the generation and evolution of continuous-variable (CV) entanglement via an incoherent pump in a single-atom cavity electrodynamics (CQED) system. The atomic coherence in such a Λ configuration is introduced by driving the lower two levels with a strong classical field of Rabi frequency Ω m . It is shown that the intensity of the driving field can influence effectively the period of the entanglement between the two cavity modes.

Generation of two-mode squeezed states for two separated atomic ensembles via coupled cavities

Shi‐Biao Zheng, Zhen‐Biao Yang, Yan Xia

We propose an efficient scheme for the generation of two-mode squeezed states for two separated atomic ensembles trapped in distant cavities. The scheme is based on selective couplings between the collective atomic modes and two linearly transformed common field modes mediated by an optical fiber or a third cavity. The quanta of the transformed atomic modes are exhausted due to the linear coupling with the transformed field modes, bringing the original atomic modes into the two-mode squeezed states. The experimental implementation of the scheme would be an important step toward quantum communication and networking with continuous variables.

Generation of continuous-variable entanglement in a two-mode four-level single-atom driven by microwave

In this paper, we discuss the generation and evolution of continuous-variable entanglement in a two-mode single-atom laser, where the atomic coherence is induced by two classical microwave fields, which drive the corresponding fine atomic transitions. The results show that the intensity of the microwave field can influence effectively the entanglement properties of the cavity field. In addition, our numerical results also show that the intensity and the period of entanglement between the two cavity modes as well as the total mean photon number of the cavity field can be increased synchronously by adjusting the corresponding frequency detuning.

Continuous-Variable Entanglement Generation from a Four-State Atom under Raman Excitation

Ting-Ting Zha, Aixi Chen, Wen‐Xing Yang

We investigate the generation and the evolution of continuous-variable (CV) entanglement from a laser-driven four-state atom inside a doubly resonant cavity under Raman excitation. Two transitions in the four-state atom independently interact with the two cavity modes, while two other transitions are driven by coupling laser fields. By including the atomic relaxation as well as cavity losses, we show that the CV entanglement with large mean number of photons can be generated in our scheme. We also show that the intensity of the coupling laser fields can influence effectively the entanglement period of the cavity field. Different from the conventional resonant excitation scheme where zero one-photon detuning are required, it is found that the intensity and period of entanglement between the two cavity modes as well as the total mean photon number of the cavity field can be adjusted by properly modulating the frequency detuning.
