Abstract

Generation of polarisation-entangled photon pairs at 1550 nm is demonstrated using two periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguides. In two-photon interference experiments, the coincidence detection rate was 0.53 kHz with a visibility of ∼94% (after subtraction of accidental coincidences). The ratio of single-photon to coincidence detection rate is ∼50.

Two-photon Interference at 1550 nm Using Two Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate Waveguides

Akio Yoshizawa, Ryosaku Kaji, Hidemi Tsuchida

We have observed two-photon interference at 1550 nm using two periodically poled lithium niobate waveguides. Two indium-gallium-arsenide gated-mode single-photon detectors were used for coincidence detection. The measured visibility was 95% (after subtraction of accidental coincidences) with a coincidence detection rate of 0.8 kHz. The ratio of single-photon to coincidence detection rate was 30.

Polarisation-entangled photon-pair source at 1550 nm using 1 mm-long PPLN waveguide in fibre-loop configuration

Satoru Odate, Akio Yoshizawa, Hidemi Tsuchida

A source of polarisation-entangled photons that uses the spontaneous parametric downconversion process in the telecommunication wavelength band is reported. A 1 mm-long periodically poled lithium niobate waveguide was placed in a fibre loop to realise spontaneous parametric downconversion, and it was operated at room temperature. Two-photon interferences having visibilities greater than 84% before subtraction of accidental coincidence counts were observed.

We report the generation of 1.5-mm-band energy-time entangled photon pairs using a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide. We performed a two-photon interference experiment and obtained coincidence fringes with 77.3% visibilities without subtracting accidental coincidences.

Generation of polarization-entangled photon pairs in 1550nm band by a fiber-optic two-photon interferometer

Akio Yoshizawa, Hidemi Tsuchida

Polarization-entangled photon pairs in a band around 1550nm are generated by use of a fiber-optic two-photon interferometer having two periodically poled lithium niobate waveguides. Coincidence measurements are adopted for feedback control, in order to suppress phase drifts in the state of entanglement. Two-photon interference with a visibility of ∼1 (after subtraction of accidental coincidences) is observed over an hour. The visibility including accidental coincidences is ∼0.77.
