Abstract

ID-based public key cryptography is proposed to simplify the management of the certification process and greatly reduce the public key authentication computation as well as communication cost. Certified e-mail protocol is a fair exchange of a message for a receipt between two potentially mistrusting parties over the network. A number of certified e-mail protocols have been studied in recent years. However, most of those protocols used certificated-based cryptography and the the full trusted third party employed, may not be suitable for wireless networks that own limited resources such as power, computation and bandwidth. In this paper, we propose an improved identity-based signcryption with re-encryption scheme firstly, then based on the scheme, we develop a novel certified e-mail protocol in Id-based setting that employs an off-line semi-trusted third party STTP for wireless networks, finally the detailed analysis shows that the proposed approach is dynamic, lightweight and scalable. © 2013 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

Certified e-mail protocol is a fair exchange of a message for a receipt between two potentially mistrusting parties over the network. A number of certified e-mail protocols have been studied in recent years. However, most of those protocols employ certificate-based cryptography and full trusted third party, which may not be suitable for wireless networks with limited resources such as power, computation and bandwidth. In this work, we propose an improved identity-based (or ID-based) signcryption & re-encryption scheme. Based on this scheme, we develop a novel certified e-mail protocol in the ID-based settings that employ an off-line semi-trusted third party (STTP) for wireless networks. By avoiding the complicated computation from the public key authentication in the certificate-based cryptography, the proposed scheme can simplify the management of the certification process and reduce communication cost in the system. Our detailed elaboration and analysis shows that the proposed approach is dynamic, lightweight and scalable.

An Efficient Identity-Based Certified E-mail Protocol

Signcryption is to perform encryption and signature in a single logical step, and is more efficient than the sign-then-encryption scheme. However, most of the proposed signcryption approaches cannot be used directly by certified e-mail protocol. In this paper, we first develop an id-based signcryption method, which allows a trusted third party to compute a cipher text of a message together with other parties. Then based on the signcryption scheme we propose a new id-based certified e-mail protocol. The fairness, efficiency, and effectiveness of our protocol have been proved.

An Efficient Certified E-Mail Scheme Suitable for Wireless Mobile Environments

Guilin Wang, Feng Bao, Jianying Zhou +1 more

As security enhanced systems for standard e-mail, certified e-mail schemes guarantee the fair exchange of a digital message with the corresponding receipt between two mistrusted parties. That is, the intended receiver gets the e-mail content if and only if the e-mail sender obtains an irrefutable receipt issued by the receiver, which could be used to prove that the message has been delivered to the receiver. A number of such protocols have been proposed in recent years. However, most of them are not suitable for mobile networks, since many intricate cryptographic primitives are involved so that considerable overheads are introduced. In this paper, we present a novel simple protocol for certified e-mail delivery. Technical discussions are provided to show that our new solution is both secure and very efficient so that it is truly suitable for wireless mobile users, where the available devices usually have limited resources on computation, communication, storage, and power supply.

A New Certified E-Mail Protocol Based on Signcrytion

Wen Qiao-yan

A certified e-mail protocol is about fair exchange of a message m for its receipt. Fairness is the most important property in exchange. We modify existing W-B signcryption scheme so that it can be used by certified e-mail protocols, and based on the modified scheme we propose a new certified e-mail protocol. The protocol makes use of an off-line and transparent trusted third party only in exceptional circumstances, and has lower computation overhead and better efficiency comparing related protocol.

A certified e-mail protocol suitable for mobile environments

J.M. Park, Indrajit Ray, Edwin K. P. Chong +1 more

A novel certified e-mail protocol that is particularly suitable for mobile environments is described. Our protocol uses an off-line trusted third party (TTP). Protocols with an off-line TTP-also known as optimistic protocols-have numerous practical advantages over protocols with an on-line TTP. Nonetheless, many protocols adopt an on-line TTP primarily because optimistic protocols often entail intricate cryptographic primitives that incur considerable overhead. By using a novel signature paradigm, which we call gradational signatures, we show that it is possible to construct optimistic protocols that are comparable to on-line protocols in terms of computation and communication overhead. This makes our scheme especially desirable in the mobile setting.

ID-Based Fair Multi-party Exchange Protocol

Minqing Zhang, Haiyan Xiao, Xiaoyuan Yang

Fair multi-party exchange protocol is one of the foundation electronic commerce, but at present, the study of multi-party fair exchange protocol is very weak. Aiming at solving this problem, we present a secure and efficient ID-based fair multi-party exchange protocol with off-line semi-trusted third party. Application of multi-receiver identity-based encryption and PVSS scheme ensure security and efficiency of this new protocol. And it applied to multi-party certified e-mail exchange in network environment.
