About resonance and non-resonance stimulated transition coefficients

Abstract

Resonance and non-resonance stimulated transition coefficients for a system with relaxation are derived. The resonance stimulated transition coefficient was used for calculation of the laser spectrum. The non-resonance stimulated transition coefficients are used for explanation of the observed many-mode spectrum of long lasers.

About inter-mode stimulated transition coefficients

Michael G. Noppe

Inter-mode stimulated transition coefficients for system with relaxation are derived. The mechanism of the stimulated transition described with the help of inter-mode coefficients can be used for an explanation of experimental supervision connected to interaction of modes.

Resonance fluorescence in triple optical resonance

W. J. Mielniczuk

The spectrum of a resonance fluorescence emitted by a four-level atomic system interacting with three intense laser beams is calculated analytically. The ratios of areas under peaks of the spectrum are obtained as functions of the Rabi frequencies of incident laser beams and Einstein coefficients of the atomic system. Expressions for positions of peaks are given as well. Differences between the double resonance fluorescence spectrum and the triple resonance fluorescence spectrum are indicated.

The absorption and stimulated emission of radiation

Alan Corney

Starting from the absorption of radiation by a classical electron oscillator, Einstein's A and B coefficients for spontaneous and stimulated transitions are introduced. Stimulated transition rates are derived by time-dependent perturbation theory. Relations between the Einstein B coefficients and oscillator strengths are also determined. The atomic frequency response for stimulated transitions is explained.

Phenomenon of Resonance in a Two-Mode Laser with an Input Additive Signal

Qing Ye, Jinxing Li, Ming Yuan Yang +1 more

Exact formulas for the power spectrum and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) with periodic additive signal are calculated in the linear system. Then the phenomenon of resonance is studied in detail. We show that resonance peak and suppressed valley exist in the curves of the SNR versus the coefficient of self-saturation, the net gain and the cross-coupling coefficient of the laser system.

Electromagnetic Transition in Waveguide with Application to Lasers

The electromagnetic transition of two-level atomic systems in a waveguide is calculated. Compared with the result in free space, the spontaneous emission rate decrease because the phase space is smaller, and meanwhile, some resonance appears in some cases. Moreover, the influence of non-uniform electromagnetic field in a waveguide on absorption and stimulated emission is considered. Applying the results to lasers, a method to enhance the laser power is proposed. PACS codes: 42.50.ct, 42.55.Ah 1
