Abstract

Inter-mode stimulated transition coefficients for system with relaxation are derived. The mechanism of the stimulated transition described with the help of inter-mode coefficients can be used for an explanation of experimental supervision connected to interaction of modes.

About resonance and non-resonance stimulated transition coefficients

Michael G. Noppe

Resonance and non-resonance stimulated transition coefficients for a system with relaxation are derived. The resonance stimulated transition coefficient was used for calculation of the laser spectrum. The non-resonance stimulated transition coefficients are used for explanation of the observed many-mode spectrum of long lasers.

Rate equations in stimulated light scattering

Paul L. Kelley

A set of rate equations which gives results not previously obtained has been proposed for stimulated light scattering. These equations are shown to be invalid under the conditions where the novel results appear.

A Self-Consistent Quantum Field Theory for Random Lasing

Andreas Lubatsch, Regine Frank

The spatial formation of coherent random laser modes in strongly scattering disordered random media is a central feature in the understanding of the physics of random lasers. We derive a quantum field theoretical method for random lasing in disordered samples of complex amplifying Mie resonators which is able to provide self-consistently and free of any fit parameter the full set of transport characteristics at and above the laser phase transition. The coherence length and the correlation volume respectively is derived as an experimentally measurable scale of the phase transition at the laser threshold. We find that the process of stimulated emission in extended disordered arrangements of active Mie resonators is ultimately connected to time-reversal symmetric multiple scattering in the sense of photonic transport while the diffusion coefficient is finite. A power law is found for the random laser mode diameters in stationary state with increasing pump intensity.

174 Yb 3 P 1 level relaxation found via weak magnetic field dependence of collision-induced stimulated photon echo

Н. Н. Рубцова, Гольдорт Вениамин Гершевич, Хворостов Евгений Борисович +2 more

Abstract Collision-induced stimulated photon echo generated at transition was analyzed theoretically and investigated experimentally in the gaseous mixture of ytterbium vapour diluted with a large amount of buffer gas xenon in the presence of a weak longitudinal magnetic field. The inter-combination transition of 174 Yb (6s 2 ) 1 S (6s6p) 3 P 1 was used; all experimental parameters were carefully controlled for their correspondence to the broad spectral line conditions. The curve representing the collision-induced stimulated photon echo variations versus a weak magnetic field strength showed very good agreement with the corresponding theoretical curve; this agreement permitted getting the decay rates for 174 Yb level 3 P 1 orientation and alignment in collisions with Xe.
