Coherent Operation of the Collective Atomic Modes in the Coupled Cavity System

Zhi‐Rong Zhong

We study the dynamics of a coupled cavity system composed of three cavities, and propose a scheme for the coherent manipulation of two collective atomic modes by a control atom. In the scheme, the control atom and two atomic ensembles interact with the local cavity mode, while the control atom is externally driven by a laser field. We show that under certain conditions, the dynamics of the whole system are reduced to an effective coherent coupling between the control atom and two collective atomic modes, while the cavity fields are only virtually excited. We also study the dynamics of the entanglement generation of the two distant collective atomic modes. The scheme provides a potential application for quantum-state engineering and quantum control.

Efficient two-mode squeezing and quantum-state teleportation of macroscopic atomic ensembles

We present a protocol for deterministically generating an optimal two-mode-squeezed state of distant free-space atomic ensembles. The protocol relies on two passes of a single coherent pulse through two separate atomic ensembles placed in homogeneous magnetic fields. In contrast to previous single-pass schemes, our approach significantly enhances the degree of entanglement due to the exponential behavior of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen variance. We also provide an efficient scheme to perform Bell measurement of atomic states, enabling the implementation of high-fidelity atomic quantum teleportation.

Entangled atomic ensemble and an yttrium-iron-garnet sphere in coupled microwave cavities

Dilawaiz, Shahid Qamar, Muhammad Irfan

We present a scheme to generate distant bipartite and tripartite entanglement between an atomic ensemble and an yttrium iron garnet (YIG) sphere in coupled microwave cavities. We consider an atomic ensemble in a single-mode microwave cavity which is coupled with a second single-mode cavity having a YIG sphere. Our system, therefore, has five excitation modes, namely, cavity-1 photons, an atomic ensemble, cavity-2 photons, a magnon and a phonon mode in the YIG sphere. We show that significant bipartite entanglement exists between indirectly coupled subsystems in the cavities which is robust against temperature. Moreover, we present suitable parameters for a significant tripartite entanglement of the ensemble, magnon, and phonon modes. We also demonstrate the existence of tripartite entanglement between the magnon and phonon modes of the YIG sphere with indirectly coupled cavity photons. Interestingly, this distant tripartite entanglement is of the same order as that previously found for a single-cavity system. We show that cavity-cavity coupling strength affects both the degree and transfer of quantum entanglement between various subsystems. Therefore, an appropriate cavity-cavity coupling optimizes the distant entanglement by increasing the entanglement strength and its robustness against temperature.
