ENTANGLEMENT BETWEEN CHARGE AND FLUX QUBITS

Qinghong Liao, Xin Liu, Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmad

Following the scheme proposed by X. L. He et al. [Phys. Rev. B76 (2007) 024517], we investigate the generation of a maximally entangled state between the charge and flux qubits. It is shown that macroscopic Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) pairs can be created and the entanglement can be long-lived. Since the large Josephson junction is only virtually excited, no quantum information will be transferred from the charge and flux qubits to the large Josephson junction. Based on the strong inductive coupling, a fast entanglement operation can be achieved.

Coherent Temporal Oscillations of Macroscopic Quantum States in a Josephson Junction

Yang Yu, Siyuan Han, Xi Chu +2 more

We report the generation and observation of coherent temporal oscillations between the macroscopic quantum states of a Josephson tunnel junction by applying microwaves with frequencies close to the level separation. Coherent temporal oscillations of excited state populations were observed by monitoring the junction's tunneling probability as a function of time. From the data, the lower limit of phase decoherence time was estimated to be about 5 microseconds.

Controllable manipulation and entanglement of macroscopic quantum states in coupled charge qubits

J. Q. You, J. S. Tsai, Franco Nori

We present an experimentally implementable method to couple Josephson charge qubits and to generate and detect macroscopic entangled states. A large-junction superconducting quantum interference device is used in the qubit circuit for both coupling qubits and implementing the readout. Also, we explicitly show how to achieve a microwave-assisted macroscopic entanglement in the coupled-qubit system.
