Twelve good rate (m-r)/pm quasi-cyclic codes

Abstract

Twelve new quasi-cyclic (QC) codes are presented which improve the bounds on the best known binary linear codes. They are rate (m-r)/pm, r>1, codes constructed by deleting r rows from the circulant matrices of rate m/pm QC codes, based on the factors of x/sup m/-1. Heuristic combinatorial optimization was used to find these codes.>

Nine good rate (m-1)/pm quasi-cyclic codes

Thomas Aaron Gulliver, V.K. Bhargava

The class of quasi-cyclic (QC) codes has been proven to contain many good codes. To date the known results are largely codes of the form 1/p and (p-1)/p constructed from circulant matrices. A generalization of these rate 1/p codes to rate (m-1)/pm codes based on the theory of 1-generator QC codes is presented. The results of a search for good codes based on heuristic combinatorial optimization are nine codes which improve the known lower bounds on the minimum distance of binary linear codes.>

Good Quasi-Cyclic Codes from Circulant Matrices Concatenation using a Heuristic Method

Bouchaib Aylaj, Saïd Nouh, Mostafa Belkasmi +1 more

In this paper we present a method to search q circulant matrices; the concatenation of these circulant matrices with circulant identity matrix generates quasi-cyclic codes with high various code rate q/(q+1) (q an integer). This method searches circulant matrices in order to find the good quasi-cyclic code (QCC) having the largest minimum distance. A modified simulated annealing algorithm is used as an evaluator tool of the minimum distance of the obtained QCC codes. Based on this method we found 16 good quasi-cyclic codes with rates (1/2, 2/3 and 3/4), their estimated minimum distance reaches the lower bounds of codes considered to be the better linear block codes in Brouwer’s database.

Some new binary codes with improved minimum distances

Eric Z. Chen

It has been well-known that the class of quasi-cyclic (QC) codes contain many good codes. In this paper, a method to conduct a computer search for binary $2$-generator QC codes is presented, and a large number of good $2$-generator QC codes have been obtained. $5$ new binary QC codes that improve the lower bounds on minimum distance are presented. Furthermore, with new $2$-generator QC codes and Construction X, $2$ new improved binary linear codes are obtained. With the standard construction techniques, another $16$ new binary linear codes that improve the lower bound on the minimum distance have also been obtained. On quasi-cyclic codes

P. Heijnen, Henk van Tilborg, S. Weijs

Many binary quasi-cyclic codes have a better minimum distance than other known linear codes with the same parameters. We present 43 new quasi-cyclic codes, which improve on the parameters of previously found quasi-cyclic codes. Five of them even improve the lower bound on the minimum distance for linear codes. Furthermore we present a decoding algorithm for the binary quasi-cyclic codes of rate 1/m.

Construction of High-Rate Regular Quasi-Cyclic LDPC Codes Based on Cyclic Difference Families

Hosung Park, Seokbeom Hong, Jong‐Seon No +1 more

For a high-rate case, it is difficult to randomly construct good low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes of short and moderate lengths because their Tanner graphs are prone to have short cycles. Also, the existing high-rate quasi-cyclic (QC) LDPC codes can be constructed only for very restricted code parameters. In this paper, based on special classes of cyclic difference families, we propose a new construction method of high-rate regular QC LDPC codes having parity-check matrices consisting of a single row of circulants with column-weight 3 or 4. The proposed QC LDPC codes can be constructed for various code rates and lengths including the minimum achievable length for given column-weight and design rate under girth 6. It is observed that the parity-check matrices of the proposed QC LDPC codes have full rank for column-weight 3 and just one redundant row for column-weight 4. It is shown that the error correcting performance of the proposed QC LDPC codes of short and moderate lengths is almost the same as that of the existing ones through numerical analysis.
