Abstract

Distinctive features of the entanglement dynamics of a circuit containing two-coupled superconducting charge qubits are explored. The striking effects of junction coupling on the entanglement are presented in terms of the concurrence. We also point out the importance effects of initial state selection for obtaining different features of entanglement, such as, sudden death and sudden birth.

Sudden death and birth of entanglement effects for Kerr-nonlinear coupler

A. Kowalewska-Kudłaszyk, W. Leoński

We analyze the entanglement dynamics in a nonlinear Kerr-like coupler interacting with external environment. Whenever the reservoir is in a thermal vacuum state, the entanglement (measured by concurrence for a two-qubit system) exhibits regular oscillations of decreasing amplitude. In contrast, for thermal reservoirs we can observe dark periods in concurrence oscillations (which can be called a sudden death of the entanglement) and the entanglement rebuild (which can be named the sudden birth of entanglement). We show that these features can be observed when we deal with two-qubit system as well as qubit-qutrit system.

ENTANGLEMENT BETWEEN TWO SUPERCONDUCTING CHARGE QUBITS

Eugene K. Bashkirov

In this paper, we investigated the dynamics of entanglement of two identical charge qubits with Josephson junctions in the case when one of the qubits is exposed to a microwave field in a coherent or thermal state. We have found the exact solution of the quantum time equation of evolution of the system under consideration for the statistical operator in the case of initial separable and entangled states of qubits. The exact solution for the complete statistical operator is used to calculate the qubit entanglement criterion - concurrence. The results of numerical simulation of the time dependence of the concurrence in the case of the coherent field showed that, with a certain choice of model parameters, the system can realize long-lived entangled states. It is also shown that for the thermal state of the field and the entangled initial state of qubits, the qubits retain a certain degree of entanglement during evolution even in the case of very intensive fields. In this case, for any intensities of thermal noise, there is no effect of the sudden death of entanglement.

Entanglement Dynamics of Strongly-AC-Driven Superconducting Qubits in Circuit QED

Zhengang Shi, Xiongwen Chen, Wei Wen +2 more

We study the entanglement dynamics between two strongly-AC-driven superconducting charge qubits coupled collectively to a zero temperature, dissipative resonator and find an unusual feather that the competing of creation and annihilation of entanglement can lead to entanglement increasing, sudden death and revival. We also calculate the dependence of the death time on the initial state of the system.

Delayed sudden birth of entanglement

Z. Ficek, R. Tanaś

The concept of time delayed creation of entanglement by the dissipative process of spontaneous emission is investigated. A threshold effect for the creation of entanglement is found where the initially unentangled qubits can be entangled after a finite time despite the fact that the coherence between the qubits exists for all times. This delayed creation of entanglement, which we call sudden birth of entanglement, is opposite to the currently extensively discussed sudden death of entanglement and is characteristic for transient dynamics of one-photon entangled states of the system. We determine the threshold time for the creation of entanglement and find it is related to time at which the antisymmetric state remains the only excited state being populated. It is shown that the threshold time can be controlled by the distance between the qubits and the direction of initial excitation relative to the interatomic axis. This effect suggests an alternative for the study of entanglement and provides an interesting resource for creation on demand of entanglement between two qubits.

ENTANGLEMENT DYNAMICS OF TWO QUBITS COUPLED TO SQUEEZED DISSIPATIVE ENVIRONMENTS

Chuan-Jia Shan, Tao Chen, Ji-Bing Liu +4 more

By analytically solving the Lindblad form of the master equation, we investigate entanglement dynamics of two qubits coupled via the XY interaction, where each qubit is interacting with an independent reservoir with the squeezing parameters and squeezing angles. In the weak-squeezed reservoir, we show that the entanglement sudden death and entanglement sudden birth will happen for various entangled states. Some initial product states evolve into entangled ones, initially entangled states lose completely or partially their entanglement. The effects of varying the degree of entanglement of the initial states, the spin chain system parameters and different values of the degree of squeezing on the sudden death, revival and birth times are analyzed in detail. We also see that the steady state concurrence appears in the squeezed dissipative environments, which is affected by both the system parameters and the degree of squeezing.

Entanglement dynamics of a superconducting phase qubit coupled to a two-level system

Guozhu Sun, Zhongyuan Zhou, Bo Mao +3 more

We report the observation and quantitative characterization of driven and spontaneous oscillations of quantum entanglement, as measured by concurrence, in a bipartite system consisting of a macroscopic Josephson phase qubit coupled to a microscopic two-level system. The data clearly show the behavior of entanglement dynamics such as sudden death and revival, and the effect of decoherence and ac driving on entanglement.
