Abstract

We measured the correlation between the two excitons in the coupled quantum dots by the photoluminescence using two color synchronously-locked pico-second lasers and observed unique correlation phenomena when both excitons are excited simultaneously.

Correlation of Exciton and Biexciton from a Single InAs Quantum Dot

Yu-Long Li, Geng Chen, Jian‐Shun Tang +1 more

The peaks of exciton and biexciton from the single quantum dot (QD) micro-photoluminescence spectra are identified by observing the intensity of those peaks in relation to increasing excitation power. In order to further verify the properties of the exciton and biexciton, we perform auto- and cross correlation measurements. Using the former, we confirm the antibunching property of the signal light emitted from the single QD. Using cross correlation measurement, we verify that the exciton and biexciton emissions originate from the same QD and they are strongly correlated with each other. Lastly, we analyze the behavior of the cross correlation function in both the cases of saturated and unsaturated excitation of the QD.

Entangled exciton states and their evaluation in coupled quantum dots

Weidong Chu, Jia‐Lin Zhu

Field-control exciton entanglement in coupled quantum dots is studied and three important entanglement peaks are found at the corresponding anticrossings of four s-shell levels. Each entanglement peak exhibits its own behavior and can be designed by optimizing the structural parameters. With a proposed method, the entangled states of a real sample are evaluated from its field-modified photoluminescence spectrum, and the electronic and structural parameters required for the design of entangled states are extracted simultaneously.

Optical Control of 2-Qubit Exciton States in a Coupled Quantum Dot

Keishiro Goshima, Kazuhiro Komori, Takeyoshi Sugaya

We investigated the formation dynamics of an artificial exciton molecule state, which consists of two different excitons confined in each quantum dot of a pair of quantum dots, namely, a coupled quantum dot (CQD). By the selective optical excitation of the inherent energy states of two different excitons using two-color pulsed excitation, we created an artificial exciton molecule state and investigated the transient dynamics, and monitored the photoluminescence, namely, the population of the artificial exciton molecule states. By employing the power dependence of the two colors, we tried the two-qubit logic gate operation and succeeded in controlling the population of an artificial exciton molecule (pulse area θ<π).

Quantum Optics of Semiconductor Excitons

Careful measurements of the excitonic response to varying coherent states allow the excitonic response to other quantum statistics to be determined. Using this method, we show that quantum optical correlations can map onto excitonic correlations.

Single-Photon Emission from a Single InAs Quantum Dot

Dou Xiu-Ming, Baoquan Sun, Huang She-Song +2 more

Excitation power-dependent micro-photoluminescence spectra and photon-correlation measurement are used to study the optical properties and photon statistics of single InAs quantum dots. Exciton and biexciton emissions, whose photoluminescence intensities have linear and quadratic excitation power dependences, respectively, are identified. Under pulsed laser excitation, the zero time delay peak of second order correlation function corresponding to exciton emission is well suppressed, which is a clear evidence of single photon emission.
