Non-Collinear Configuration for Dichromatic Squeezing

Alessandra Andreoni, Maria Bondani, G. M. D Ariano +1 more

Abstract We propose a non-collinear experimental scheme for the joint generation of two amplitudesqueezed beams at the frequencies u\ and u>2, fundamental and second harmonics of a Nd:YAG laser pulse. The scheme consists of two successive steps, both involving second-order non-linear interactions in ß - BaB2O4 non-linear crystals. One of the output beams show subPoissonian photon statistics, and this allows to use photodetection instead of homodyne detection for diagnostics

Ultimate power efficiency of a dichromatically pumped hyperparametric oscillator

Andrey B. Matsko, Lute Maleki

We theoretically investigate the power efficiency of hyperparametric oscillation in a nonlinear microcavity pumped by two coherent fields in a regime where only two frequency harmonics are produced. We show numerically that complete transfer of the dichromatic pump energy into the generated harmonics can be achieved when the pump power reaches the optimal value approaching two times the oscillation threshold. This result identifies a highly efficient regime of nonlinear frequency conversion, with significant potential for realization of dichromatic optical fields that are simultaneously frequency- and spatially separable, enabling new approaches to the generation of quantum-correlated light.

Interference, reduced action, and trajectories

Edward R. Floyd

Instead of investigating the interference between two stationary, rectilinear wave functions in a trajectory representation by examining the trajectories of the two rectilinear wave functions individually, we examine a dichromatic wave function that is synthesized from the two interfering wave functions. The physics of interference is contained in the reduced action for the dichromatic wave function. As this reduced action is a generator of the motion for the dichromatic wave function, it determines the dichromatic wave function’s trajectory. The quantum effective mass renders insight into the behavior of the trajectory. The trajectory in turn renders insight into quantum nonlocality.
