Abstract

We study the potential for coherent transfer of a single electron between the ground states of two anharmonic coupled quantum dots using an adiabatic passage method. We consider the interaction of a quantum dot structure characterized by an asymmetric confining potential by two external electromagnetic fields. We use the method of stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) for control of the dynamics of the electron, and ultimately for succeeding the transfer of the electron from the initially occupied quantum dot to the other quantum dot. Results for several values of the parameters of the applied electromagnetic fields are presented, and we show that STIRAP can lead to efficient coherent single electron transfer for a wide range of these parameters.

Control of a double quantum dot structure by stimulated Raman adiabatic passage

Evangelos Voutsinas, John Boviatsis, Antonios Fountoulakis

Abstract In this work we study the potential for coherent manipulation of an asymmetric double quantum dot structure by the use of adiabatic methods. These methods are the Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage (STIRAP) and its modification the fractional STIRAP. We show that such a method can be used for complete electron transfer between the two lower states of the quantum dots. In addition, with fractional STIRAP a coherent superposition of the two lower states of the quantum dots can be created. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Stimulated Raman adiabatic passage for the photon‐assisted tunneling in a double quantum dot

Shinji Abe, Hirotaka Sasakura, S. Adachi +1 more

We have investigated the pulse parameters of the stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) for efficient electron transfer in the coupled quantum dot system, and we found that STIRAP is sensitive to the difference between the dipole moments of the involved transitions. We have designed the QD structures where this drawback can be suppressed, to show the practicality of the photon-assisted tunneling between spatiallyseparated QDs. (© 2006 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Coherent single-electron transfer in coupled quantum dots

Antonios Fountoulakis, Andreas Terzis, Emmanuel Paspalakis

We theoretically investigate the coherent transfer of one electron between the ground states of a double coupled quantum dot structure. The coherent transfer of the electron is externally controlled by applied electromagnetic fields with on- or close-resonance driving frequencies and various shapes and duration. We derive the analytical expressions for the parameters of the external fields by approximating the quantum dot system as a three-level Λ-type system. The analytical solutions are compared with numerical results and good agreement is found. The control methods developed here are applicable in symmetric and asymmetric quantum dot nanostructures.

Coherent population transfer in coupled semiconductor quantum dots

Ulrich Hohenester, Filippo Troiani, Elisa Molinari +2 more

We propose a solid-state implementation of stimulated Raman adiabatic passage in two coupled semiconductor quantum dots. Proper combination of two pulsed laser fields allows the coherent carrier transfer between the two nanostructures without suffering significant losses due to environment coupling. By use of a general solution scheme for the carrier states in the double-dot structure, we identify the pertinent dot and laser parameters.

Creation and Transfer of Coherence via Technique of Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage in Triple Quantum Dots

Si-Cong Tian, Ren-Gang Wan, Chun-Liang Wang +3 more

We propose a scheme for creation and transfer of coherence among ground state and indirect exciton states of triple quantum dots via the technique of stimulated Raman adiabatic passage. Compared with the traditional stimulated Raman adiabatic passage, the Stokes laser pulse is replaced by the tunneling pulse, which can be controlled by the externally applied voltages. By varying the amplitudes and sequences of the pump and tunneling pulses, a complete coherence transfer or an equal coherence distribution among multiple states can be obtained. The investigations can provide further insight for the experimental development of controllable coherence transfer in semiconductor structure and may have potential applications in quantum information processing.

Superadiabatic stimulated Raman adiabatic passage between dressed states

Fupeng Jin, Ao Wang, Yunlan Ji +2 more

Abstract Stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) is a widely used technique for efficient population transfer between quantum states. However, the adiabatic nature of STIRAP requires slow evolution, leading to long operation times, which limits its practical applications. The superadiabatic method has been introduced to accelerate the STIRAP process, but it often necessitates additional couplings between the initial and target states, which may not be available in the original Hamiltonian. In this work, we present a novel approach to implement superadiabatic STIRAP (sa-STIRAP) between dressed states in a three-level quantum system. By modulating the amplitude and phase of the original driving fields, the initial and target states in dressed-state space can be effectively coupled. This approach provides a practical means of realizing sa-STIRAP in experimental setups, making it convenient to accelerate adiabatic quantum state transfer.
