Nearly Deterministic Teleportation of a Photonic Qubit with Weak Cross-Kerr Nonlinearities

Abstract

Scheme for teleporting an unknown single-qubit photonic state is revisited. With the help of quantum nonde-molition measurements, the scheme now can be achieved in an almost deterministic way. The weak-cross-Kerrnonlinearities-based quantum nondemolition measurement acts as an entangler as well as the Bell-state analyzer, and thus plays a similar role as the CNOT gate in the teleportation process. This improvement makes the present scheme more efficient than the schemes using nonunitary projective measurements and feasible with the current experimental technology.

Simplified optical quantum-information processing via weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities

Qi Guo, Juan Bai, Liu‐Yong Cheng +3 more

We propose a simplified parity meter for photonic qubits with cross-Kerr nonlinearities, homodyne measurement, and some optical elements. Our scheme has lower error probability than the protocol proposed in Nemoto and Munro [Phys. Rev. Lett. 93, 250502 (2004)]. Based on the present parity meter, we achieve cluster-state preparation, a complete Bell-state analyzer, and quantum teleportation. All of these schemes are nearly deterministic in the regime with little noise and include less optical elements, which makes our schemes more meaningful for large-scale quantum computing.

Deterministic high-dimensional entangled states analysis and quantum teleportation

Fang‐Fang Du, Ling‐Hui Li, Chen Huang +2 more

Entanglement in high-dimensional systems plays a vital role in quantum information processing (QIP), as it extends the available Hilbert space, supports the manipulation of more intricate information, and broadens the scope of implementable quantum operations. In the paper, we present a deterministic scheme for the four-dimensional two-qudit Bell entangled state analysis for the four-photon system in the polarization degree of freedom, resorting to the weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity and some linear optical components. In our scheme, the analysis of four-dimensional Bell entangled state is constructed by three-photon Toffoli gate and quantum nondemolition detectors (QND 1 and QND 2 ). By phase shifts of the coherent beams, the 16 orthogonal four-dimensional two-qudit Bell states can be completely distinguished from each other. The proposal can be extended to the four-dimensional three-qudit entangled state analysis and n -qudit entangled state analysis. In addition, our deterministic scheme for high-dimensional entangled state analysis can be applied to high-dimensional quantum teleportation, including both uncontrolled and controlled quantum teleportation protocols. Moreover, our scheme can achieve high fidelity and efficiency, further broadening its applicability in high-dimensional QIP.

Nearly deterministic controlled-NOT gate with weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities

Xiao‐Ming Xiu, Dong Li, Ya-Jun Gao +1 more

On the basis of the probe coherent state and weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities, we present a scheme of a nearly deterministic Controlled-NOT gate. In this construction, feed-forward methods, quantum nondemolition detectors and several optical elements are applied. It is a potentially practical quantum gate with certain features. First, the lack of auxiliary photons is allowable, which decreases consumption of resources. Secondly, employment of the signal photon from either of target output ports and three quantum nondemolition detectors enable the success probability to approach unit and judge whether the signal photons lose or not. Thirdly, the displacement measurement is adopted, and thus the Controlled-NOT gate works against photon loss of the probe coherent state. Finally, in order to circumvent the effect of dephasing, the monochromatic signal photons are exploited.

Implementation of nonlocal Bell-state measurement and quantum information transfer with weak Kerr nonlinearity

Juan Bai, Qi Guo, Liu‐Yong Cheng +4 more

We propose a protocol to implement the nonlocal Bell-state measurement, which is nearly determinate with the help of weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities and quantum non-destructive photon number resolving detection. Based on the nonlocal Bell-state measurement, we implement the quantum information transfer from one place to another. The process is different from conventional teleportation but can be regarded as a novel form of teleportation without entangled channel and classic communication.
