Abstract

An analytical solution is found for the master equation of a system described by a nonlinear Jaynes–Cummings model, in the presence of nonlinear quantum dissipation at zero temperature in the large detuning approximation. We study the influence of nonlinear quantum dissipation on the output entanglement dynamics of the atom–field system, considering the field to be initially in SU (1, 1) coherent states. It is found that in the presence of the nonlinear quantum dissipation, the amplitude of the output entanglement between the field and the atom decreases with time, however the entanglement between the field–atom system and the environment increases with time.

Linear entropy dynamics of the field in the Jaynes-Cummings model with an intensity-dependent coupling in the dispersive approximation

Chun-Xian Li, Mao-Fa Fang

We present the linear entropy dynamics of the field state in the dispersive cavity in the Jaynes-Cummings model with an intensity-dependent coupling in the dispersive approximation and investigate the influence of dissipation on entanglement between the field and the atoms. We show that the coherence properties of the field are also affected by the cavity when the nonlinear process of the field interacting with the atoms with an intensity-dependent coupling is involved and find that the dissipation constant, the intensity of the field and the atomic distribution angle have different influence on the coherence properties of the field.

Dissipative Dynamics of the Jaynes-Cummings Model with a Kerr Medium

Zhu Min

The full quantum theory is applied to the investigation of the entanglement between atom and field and the losses of coherence of the total system and its subsystems in the Jaynes-Cummings model with a Kerr medium.Linear entropies of the system, the atom and the field are calculated under the assumptions of dispersive atom-field interaction and initial coherent field states. The results show that the coherence loss of the atom is independent of the Kerr effect, the coherence loss of the system and that of the field are enhanced by the presence of the Kerr medium, and the entanglement between atom and field is suppressed by the medium. The time evolution of field entropy is affected by the cavity dissipation qualitatively as well as quantitatively.Only through cavity dissipation can the influence of Kerr effect on field entropy exhibit.

Dissipative dynamics of the Jaynes-Cummings model in the dispersive approximation: Analytical results

J. G. Peixoto de Faria, Maria Carolina Nemes

We present the time evolution of a two-level atom interacting dispersively with an electromagnetic field in a dissipative cavity. We investigate the influence of dissipation on the entanglement of the two subsystems $(\mathrm{atom}+\mathrm{field}).$ Simple but realistic, the model displays several nontrivial quantum features, which emerge when an environment is taken into account: the cavity is shown to have practically no influence in the coherence properties of the field from the qualitative point of view. On the other hand, although the atom is not directly coupled to the cavity modes, its coherent properties are strongly influenced by dissipation both qualitatively as well as quantitatively.

Coherence Loss of Two-Photon Jaynes–Cummings Model in Dispersive Approximation

Zhou Ling, Yanqing Guo, He‐Shan Song +1 more

Completely solving the dissipative dynamics of nonlinear Jaynes–Cumming model is a very difficult task. In our recent work (Phys. Lett. A284 (2001) 156), we just obtained analytical results of the field dissipative dynamics of the nonlinear JCM. In the present paper, employing the perturbative expansion of master equation, we obtain the density operator of the system (field +atom). The coherence losses of the system and of the atom are investigated when two-photon process is involved. We also study the effect of different atomic initial states and the influence of the field amplitude on the atomic coherence loss.

Aspects of the competition between atom-field and field-environment couplings under the influence of an external source in dispersive Jaynes-Cummings model

J. G. Peixoto de Faria, Maria Carolina Nemes

We give a fully description of the dynamics of an atom dispersively coupled to a field mode in a dissipative environment fed by an external source. The competition between the unitary atom-field (which leads to entanglement) and the dissipative field-environment couplings are investigated in detail. We find the time evolution of the global atom-field system for any initial state and we show that atom-field steady state is at most classically correlated. For an initial state chosen, we evaluate the purity loss of the global system and of atomic and field subsystems as a function of time. We find that the source will tend to compensate for the dissipation of the field intensity and to accelerate decoherence of the global and atomic states. Moreover, we show that the degree of entanglement of the atom-field state, for the particular initial state chosen, can be completely quantified by concurrence. Analytical expression for time evolution of the concurrence is given.
