Comment on “Quartic anharmonic oscillator and non-Hermiticity”

Abstract

The analysis of the paper by J.-L. Chen et al. [Phys. Rev. A 67, 012101 (2003)] suffers from a conceptual error. Its results contradict some well-established mathematical facts and are incorrect.

Comment on “Quasi-coherent states for the Hermite oscillator” [J. Math. Phys. 59, 062104 (2018)]

Kevin Zelaya, Oscar Rosas-Ortiz

The paper of Ünal [J. Math. Phys. 59, 062104 (2018)], though worthy of attention, contains a conclusion that is in error and may mislead the efforts to extend his results. The aim of the present note is twofold: we provide a correction to such a conclusion and then we emphasize some missing points that are necessary to clarify the content of the paper.

Quartic anharmonic oscillator and non-Hermiticity

Jing‐Ling Chen, L. C. Kwek, C. H. Oh

Using a group-theoretic approach, we investigate some new peculiar features of a general quartic anharmonic oscillator. When the coefficient of the quartic term is positive and the potential is differentiable, we find that continuity of the derivative of the potential forces the nonexistence of an analytic wave function. For the case in which the coefficient of the quartic term is negative, we find that normalizability of the wave function requires non-Hermiticity of the Hamiltonian. Finally, we apply our method to gain some insight on the double well potential.

Comment on ``Critical temperature of trapped hard-sphere Bose gases''

Werner Krauth

In this comment, I discuss a recent path-integral Monte Carlo calculation by Pearson, Pang, and Chen (Phys. Rev. A 58, 4796 (1998)). For bosons with a small hard-core interaction in a harmonic trap, the authors find a critical temperature which does not change with respect to the non-interacting gas. The calculation suffers from a serious discretization error of the many-particle density matrix.
