We perform a full numerical simulation to the electromagnetically induced transparency model in which the control beam is changed adiabatically. The numerical results show the whole process of storage and recovery for the signal pulse. This verifies a recent experiment and the approximate theoretical analysis.
We consider storage and retrieval of light based on electromagnetically induced transparency in an atomic medium using nonadiabatic switching of a control field. We derive various conditions for writing (and reading) the light information to (and from) the atomic coherence. We obtain an analytical solution for the retrieval of the stored pulse that is in excellent agreement with the full numerical results. We identify the origin of distortion at the output and derive a condition to correct the distortions by manipulating the retrieval process.
Theoretical analysis and a full numerical simulation of the electromagnet ically induced transparency model are performed under detuning conditions for a closed three_level ultracold atomic system in which a signal field can be stored and retrieved. Numerical results confirm the theory that the system can be prep ared in dark states only under resonant conditions between the fields and the a tomic transitions. The signal field is partially stored in the ultracold atomic medium with the increase of detuning and an enhanced negative group velocity of t he physically vanishing signal pulse appears. In the case of a symmetrical detun ing (red or blue detuning), no remarkable changes of the storage process occur.
In this paper, we first present a full numerical simulation for the trapping and retrieval procedure of eight continuing 1 Guassian pulses (i.e., 11111111) in the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT)medium. This simulation shows that an EIT medium has the ability to store multiple light pulses in a shape-preserving way. And we also, for the first time, give the formula evaluating the maximum number of pulses that can be stored by an EIT medium at one time. This work reveals a new possible way to the reversible storage of the photonic information.
