The minimum-uncertainty coherent states for Landau levels

Abstract

The Glauber minimum-uncertainty coherent states with two variables for Landau levels, based on the representation of Weyl-Heisenberg algebra by two different modes, have been studied about four decades ago. Here, we introduce new two-variable coherent states with minimum uncertainty relationship for Landau levels in three different methods: the infinite unitary representation of su(1, 1) is realized in two different methods, first, by consecutive levels with the same energy gaps and also with the same value for z-angular momentum quantum number, then, by shifting z-angular momentum mode number by two units while the energy level remaining the same. Besides, for su(2), whether by lowest Landau levels or Landau levels with lowest z-angular momentum, just one finite unitary representation is introduced. Having constructed the generalized Klauder-Perelomov coherent states, for any of the three representations, we obtain their Glauber coherency by displacement operator of Weyl-Heisenberg algebra.

New physics in Landau levels

Alireza Dehghani, B. Mojaveri

The most general displaced number 'coherent' states, based on the Heisenberg, su (2) and su (1, 1) Lie algebras symmetries, are constructed. They depend on two parameters, and can be converted into the well-known photon-added, two variable Glauber coherent states and displaced number states respectively, depending on which of the parameters is equal to zero. The relations of the Weyl–Heisenberg algebra guarantee a corresponding resolution of the identity conditions. A discussion of the statistical properties of these states is included. Significant are their squeezing properties, which can be raised by increasing the energy and angular momentum quantum numbers n and m . The maximum squeezing is obtained for B ext = 0. Depending on the particular choice of parameters in the above scenarios, we are able to determine the status of compliance with Poissonian statistics. In the limiting case, we obtain a major result about the non-classical properties of the Glauber minimum uncertainty coherent states. In other words, in addition to the requirement to minimize uncertainty conditions, they carry non-classical features too. Finally, a theoretical framework is proposed to generate them.

Duality of two types ofSU(1, 1) coherent states and an intermediate type

Alfred W nsche

The two types of SU (1, 1) coherent states of Barut and Girardello and of Perelomov are dual in a sense that the operators in the eigenvalue equation and in the exponentials which create these types of coherent states from the lowest eigenstate (vacuum) form an asymmetric Heisenberg–Weyl algebra. A new type of SU (1, 1) coherent states which takes on an intermediate position between the two dual types of SU (1, 1) coherent states already mentioned is established and investigated. In this new type, the duality of the operators becomes a self-duality and the corresponding operators form a usual Heisenberg–Weyl algebra. Properties of the different SU (1, 1) coherent states are investigated for the realization of SU (1, 1) by one-dimensional quantum-mechanical potential problems leading to a quadratic law of energy-level spacing. Coherent SU (1, 1) phase states are discussed for this realization of SU (1, 1). It is shown that no wavepackets corresponding to any of the SU (1, 1) coherent states can exactly preserve their shape during time evolution.

Bosonic andk-fermionic coherent states for a class of polynomial Weyl–Heisenberg algebras

Mohammed Daoud A, M. Kibler

The aim of this paper is to construct coherent states à la Perelomov and à la Barut–Girardello for a polynomial Weyl–Heisenberg algebra. This generalized Weyl–Heisenberg algebra, denoted by , depends on r real parameters and is an extension of the one-parameter algebra (Daoud and Kibler 2010 J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 43 115303) which covers the cases of the su (1, 1) algebra (for κ > 0), the su (2) algebra (for κ < 0) and the h 4 ordinary Weyl–Heisenberg algebra (for κ = 0). For finite-dimensional representations of and , where is a truncation of order s of in the sense of Pegg–Barnett, a connection is established with k -fermionic algebras (or quon algebras). This connection makes it possible to use generalized Grassmann variables for constructing certain coherent states. Coherent states of the Perelomov type are derived for infinite-dimensional representations of and for finite-dimensional representations of and through a Fock–Bargmann analytical approach based on the use of complex (or bosonic) variables. The same approach is applied for deriving coherent states of the Barut–Girardello type in the case of infinite-dimensional representations of . In contrast, the construction of coherent states à la Barut–Girardello for finite-dimensional representations of and can be achieved solely at the price of replacing complex variables by generalized Grassmann (or k -fermionic) variables. Some of the results are applied to su (2), su (1, 1) and the harmonic oscillator (in a truncated or not truncated form). SU(1,1) Nonlinear Coherent States

B. Mojaveri, Alireza Dehghani

The idea of construction of the nonlinear coherent states based on the hypergeometric- type operators associated to the Weyl-Heisenberg group [J:P hys:A 45(2012) 095304], are generalized to the similar states for the arbitrary Lie group SU(1, 1). By using of a discrete, unitary and irreducible representation of the Lie algebra su(1, 1) wide range of generalized nonlinear coherent states(GNCS) have been introduced, which admit a resolution of the identity through positive definite measures on the complex plane. We have shown that realization of these states for different values of the deformation pa- rameters r = 1 and 2 lead to the well-known Klauder-Perelomov and Barut-Girardello coherent states associated to the Irreps of the Lie algebra su(1, 1), respectively. It is worth to mention that, like the canonical coherent states, GNCS possess the temporal stability property. Finally, studying some statistical characters implies that they have indeed nonclassical features such as squeezing, anti-bunching effect and sub-Poissonian statistics, too.

Spin Number Coherent States and the Problem of Two Coupled Oscillators*

D. Ojeda-Guillén, R. D. Mota, V. D. Granados

Abstract From the definition of the standard Perelomov coherent states we introduce the Perelomov number coherent states for any su(2) Lie algebra. With the displacement operator we apply a similarity transformation to the su(2) generators and construct a new set of operators which also close the su(2) Lie algebra, being the Perelomov number coherent states the new basis for its unitary irreducible representation. We apply our results to obtain the energy spectrum, the eigenstates and the partition function of two coupled oscillators. We show that the eigenstates of two coupled oscillators are the SU(2) Perelomov number coherent states of the two-dimensional harmonic oscillator with an appropriate choice of the coherent state parameters.

Multi-mode q-coherent states

A. I. Solomon, Jacob Katriel

We show how to construct a multi-mode operator which satisfies the quantum-Heisenberg-Weyl algebra (H-W q algebra); we use this operator to create new two-mode realizations of the SU q (2) and SU q (1,1) quantum algebra. We also investigate the corresponding coherent states.
