Abstract

In conventional security mechanism, security services based on symmetric key cryptography assume keys to be distributed prior to secure communications. The core function of exchanging and sharing a secret key between two endpoints are the secure key management methodology which is one of the most critical elements need to be more concerned when integrating cryptographic functions into the system. In case the key management mechanisms is weak can lead to the vulnerability holes or a potentially fatal outsider attacks as the harmful effects to the system. Since, there is still no standardized architecture or protocol that can provide cross application symmetric key management services. Therefore, this paper approaches a secure key management model and its custom protocols to build Thailand quantum trusted network with offers simultaneous quantum key distribution to multiple user overtime. Consequently, the proposed technique has also overcome the limitation of quantum point-to-point key sharing. Based on the discussion of key management security requirement, deal with generic key management concepts and designing the new custom protocols to close the possibility loopholes, to offers reliability and convenience of use, as well as to introduce a secure and efficient key management technique for quantum cryptography network in Thailand where any communication services can take place.

Quantum cryptography based solution for secure and efficient key management for e-Governance in India

R. Sivaram Prasad, G. Murali

Secure key distribution is the fundamental problem in traditional symmetric key cryptography. Many techniques came into existence to safeguard key distribution. The core functionality of a key management technique is to share a secret key between two parties in secure and efficient fashion. This is the most important concern when cryptography is integrated with a communication network. Adversaries can exploit vulnerabilities in key management mechanism. Quantum key distribution is a promising technique that ensures unconditionally secure distribution of a bit string, a secret key, between two end points. Since quantum cannot be cloned or split, it can be used for providing fool proof mechanism for secure and efficient key management. This paper proposes a novel key management framework with underlying customized protocols to form a quantum trusted network that serve e-Governance applications in India. The custom protocols help to overcome the point-to-point limitation of quantum besides curbing security loopholes for reliable and provably secure communications. Quantum device provided by "Quantum in Cloud" of University of Bristol is used for the empirical study of the proposed framework.

Proficient key management scheme for multicast groups using group key agreement and broadcast encryption

E. Abirami, T. Padmavathy

Key Management techniques are exercised to distribute and update keys such that illegitimate parties cannot ingress group communications. Key management, however can exhibit information about the stream of group association, such as group size and the number of joining and leaving users. This is a threat to applications with confidential group membership information. This project proposes a new key management paradigm which a combination of traditional broadcast encryption and group key agreement which never reveals the group dynamic information to outsiders and achieves both forward secrecy and backward secrecy. It provides a secure key management model not only with public and private key but also two more keys called group key and session key. It is distributed to multiple user overtime. It also overcomes the limitation of quantum point to point key sharing. It offers reliability and convenience of use, as well as to introduce a secure and efficient key management technique for any quantum cryptography network in real time.

Quantum Key Distribution Networks - Key Management: A Survey

Emir Dervisevic, Amina Tanković, Ehsan Fazel +4 more

Secure communication makes the widespread use of telecommunication networks and services possible. With the constant progress of computing and mathematics, new cryptographic methods are being diligently developed. Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is a promising technology that provides an Information-Theoretically Secure (ITS) solution to the secret-key agreement problem between two remote parties. QKD networks based on trusted relay nodes are built to provide service to a larger number of parties at arbitrary distances. They function as an add-on technology to traditional networks, generating, managing, distributing, and supplying ITS cryptographic keys. Since key resources are limited, integrating QKD network services into critical infrastructures necessitates effective key management. As a result, this article provides a comprehensive review of key management approaches for trusted-relay QKD networks. They are analyzed to facilitate the identification of potential strategies and accelerate the future development of QKD networks.

A Design of Secure Communication Architecture Applying Quantum Cryptography

Kyuseok Shim, Yong-Hwan Kim, Wonhyuk Lee

Existing network cryptography systems are threatened by recent developments in quantum computing. For example, the Shor algorithm, which can be run on a quantum computer, is capable of overriding public key-based network cryptography systems in a short time. Therefore, research on new cryptography systems is actively being conducted. The most powerful cryptography systems are quantum key distribution (QKD) and post quantum cryptograph (PQC) systems; in this study, a network based on both QKD and PQC is proposed, along with a quantum key management system (QKMS) and a Q-controller to efficiently operate the network. The proposed quantum cryptography communication network uses QKD as its backbone, and replaces QKD with PQC at the user end to overcome the shortcomings of QKD. This paper presents the functional requirements of QKMS and Q-Controller, which can be utilized to perform efficient network resource management.

Security awareness is one of the most pressing topics in today's globe. The idea of cryptography is introduced when the subject is information security. Conventional cryptography-based security techniques rely on the presumption that keys are shared before secure connections. The most crucial factor to consider when integrating cryptographic operations into account when integrating cryptographic operations in with any system is the safe key management strategy required for sending and transferring a secret key between two entities The systems will be vulnerable to bugs and possibly fatal external assaults if the fundamental management methods are poor A method for securely encrypting data sent between parties is quantum cryptography. and spotting eavesdroppers trying to overhear the conversation. Quantum cryptography may be the solution to these issues a quantum cryptography application, Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), refers to the production of a cryptographic key with unconditional security assured by physical rules. Quantum cryptography is a kind of encryption. We examine the quantum key exchange protocol (BB84 protocol) in this study and the way that it significantly improves data transfer security when compared to standard encryption techniques. The main objective of quantum cryptography is to offer a trustworthy way to provide a secure method of communication between the intended peers only and to detect the Eavesdropper presence.

Design of Cryptosystem Architecture Based on Quantum Key Distribution

Weijia Xue, Wang Congli, Jingran Wang

Quantum key distribution (QKD) is a promising technique for addressing quantum threats. To enable easy-to-use cryptographic services based on QKD, we designed a cryptosystem that integrates classical cryptographic systems with key generation and distribution using a QKD network. The proposed cryptosystem comprises a centrally deployed cryptography management service platform and distributed key management systems. The paper presents the functional modules, main processes, interface design, and security requirements of the cryptosystem. This cryptosystem provides a secure and efficient way to offer cryptographic services for various business applications, such as identity authentication, application authorization and point-to-point or group session key distribution. By integrating QKD with classical cryptosystems, this approach can improve the security of traditional cryptographic systems by using the random and unconditionally secure keys generated by QKD. Furthermore, combining QKD with classical cryptographic systems can enhance the scalability of QKD and provide more efficient and cost-effective solutions for large-scale cryptographic services.
