Abstract

The critical temperatures of the random mixtures are investigated in the quenched site and bond Ising model with the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic exchange interactions by the high-temperature series expansion of the susceptibility for the d-dimensional simple hypercubical lattices. Ising Model in a Quenched Random Field: Critical Exponents in Three Dimensions from High-Temperature Series

Anil Khurana, F. J. Seco, A. Houghton

A formalism is given whereby high-temperature series for the random-field Ising model on a $d$-dimensional hypercubic lattice is obtained by a partitioning of the vertices of the pure-Ising-series diagrams. For a bimodal distribution of quenched random fields we determine the series for the susceptibility to seventh order. Order by order the disorder is treated exactly. $Dlog$ Pad\'e analyses give a susceptibility exponent $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ in $d=3$ which crosses over from 1.24 in the pure limit to 1.40 as disorder increases.

Susceptibility of Ising Ferromagnet of Restricted Dimensionality

Takuma Ishikawa, Takehiko Oguchi

The susceptibility of the restricted-dimensional (one- or two-dimensional-like) Ising model is analyzed by means of the high temperature series expansion. The exchange interaction in a chain (or plane), and inter chains (or planes) are J and λ J , respectively. The first eight terms in the susceptibility series are explicitly obtained. The critical temperature T c and the critical exponent γ are obtained as a function of λ. It is found that the susceptibility shows restricted-dimensional behavior at high temperature ( T ≫ T c ), and shows three-dimensional behavior in the very vicinity of the critical temperature (\(T{\gtrsim}T_{\text{c}}\)) for small λ.

Random Mixtures in Annealed and Quenched Ising Bond Model

Andrzej Pękalski, T. Oguchi

The two-dimensional Ising model with two kinds of bonds –ferro and antiferromagnetic– is investigated in both quenched and annealed approximations. High temperature series expansion technique is used to get the respective free energies and susceptibilities. Form the analysis of the ratio method results, the phase diagrams are drawn and critical concentrations are estimated. It is shown that in both approximations the system behaves similarly, although in the annealed case the magnetically ordered phases are more stable against increasing impurity concentration. It is also proved that for Bethe lattices initial susceptibilities for quenced and annealed systems coincide.

High-temperature expansions of the higher susceptibilities for the Ising model in general dimension d

P. Butera, M. Pernici

The high-temperature expansion coefficients of the ordinary and the higher susceptibilities of the spin-1/2 nearest-neighbor Ising model are calculated exactly up to the 20th order for the general d-dimensional (hyper)simple-cubical lattices. These series are analyzed to study the dependence of critical parameters on the lattice dimensionality. Using the general d expression of the ordinary susceptibility, we have more than doubled the length of the existing series expansion of the critical temperature in powers of 1/d.

Critical temperature of mixed ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic Ising systems with arbitrary spin

J Jakubczak, Z. Mrozińska, Andrzej Pękalski

Using the high-temperature series expansion method, a system of randomly mixed ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic Ising bonds is considered in quenched and annealed systems for an arbitrary value of spin and a BCC lattice. The dependence of the critical temperature on the concentration p of ferromagnetic bonds is determined. It is found that the resulting phase diagrams depend on the system (whether quenched or annealed), the spin value and the strength of the coupling constants. Also the dependence of the critical exponent gamma on p and the crossover exponent phi are estimated.

High-Temperature Series Analysis of 2D Random-Bond Ising Ferromagnets

Alexandra Roder, Joan Adler, Wolfhard Janke E

We analyze new high-temperature series expansions for the susceptibility $\ensuremath{\chi}$ of the two-dimensional random-bond Ising ferromagnet with a symmetric bimodal distribution of two positive couplings ${J}_{1}$ and ${J}_{2}$. By studying a wide range of coupling ratios ${J}_{2}/{J}_{1}$ we obtain compelling evidence for a critical behavior of the form $\ensuremath{\chi}\ensuremath{\sim}{t}^{\ensuremath{-}7/4}|\mathrm{ln}t{|}^{7/8}$, as predicted theoretically by Shalaev, Shankar, and Ludwig.
