Absurd Results from the Expression of Expectation Values of ``Double-Wave Theory''

Zhu Zhen-he

Published Dec 9, 2002• 5 citations

Abstract

Two of the four fundamental hypotheses of the double-wave theory (DWT) are criticized. It is expounded that the hypothesis of two wavefunctions is unreasonable and the hypothesized expression of measured values or expectation values of mechanical quantities is incorrect and does not express the measured values or expectation values at all. This expression can lead to some absurd results.

Criticism on Two Fundamental Hypotheses of “Double-wave Theory”

Zhu Zhen-he

Some falsehoods of the so-called double-wave theory (DWT) are pointed out. Two of the four fundamental hypotheses of DWT are criticized. It is expounded that the hypothesis of two wave functions is unreasonable; and the hypothesized expression of measured values or mean values of mechanical quantities is wrong and does not express the measured values or mean values at all.

Comments on “Double-Wave Theory”

Zhu Zhen-he

Some falsehoods of the so-called double-wave theory (DWT) are pointed out. The logic and the origin of the DWT, and three of the four fundamental hypotheses of DWT are criticized. It is expounded that the hypothesis of two wave functions is unreasonable, the hypothesized Hamiltonian differs from the actually used Hamiltonian, and the hypothesized expression of measured values or mean values of mechanical quantities is wrong and does not express the measured values or mean values at all.

Two-Dimensional Linear Matrix Wave Theory: Twenty Decisive Experiments

Jun Yan

This work is based on a novel fundamental physical theory proposed by the author, namely the two-dimensional linear wave theory founded on local realism. This theory postulates that the sole fundamental entity of the universe consists of orthonormal two-dimensional linear traveling waves, and all physical phenomena arise from the propagation, interference, superposition and dimensionality reduction projection of these two-dimensional waves. We redefine the most fundamental physical quantities including space, time, mass and temperature. Without introducing any additional hypotheses such as the probabilistic interpretation of wavefunction collapse, nonlocality, dark energy and particulate dark matter, the present theory can coherently and quantitatively explain all core phenomena in quantum mechanics, condensed matter physics, gravitational theory and cosmology. Twenty directly verifiable decisive experiments are proposed in this paper. Among them, the energy comparison experiment based on single-photon double-slit interference serves as the ultimate criterion. An observed energy difference twice the reference value will directly falsify the Copenhagen interpretation and provide irrefutable experimental evidence for the entire theoretical framework.

The Wave Function Must Represent a Physical Wave

The Einstein relationship, the de Broglie relationship, and the Born rule are considered fundamental in quantum mechanics, yet in mathematical logic, as usually written, they are not self-consistent [1]. On the other hand, each has had great success individually at predicting the outcome of experiments. It is shown here that the lack of self-consistency can be remedied if it is assumed the wave is physical, and the equation for the wave, and not the particle, is actually the Schrödinger equation.

The physical reality of the quantum wave function

Gerd Leuchs

Can it possibly be that the proper interpretation of quantum theory, which allows a quantum system to be in a superposition of mutually exclusive states, is itself a superposition of seemingly contradicting interpretations?
