Single-pump FWM-wavelength conversion in HNLF using coherent receiver-based electronic compensation

We show penalty-free wavelength conversion of QPSK signals based on single-pump four-wave mixing in highly nonlinear fibre. Phase distortions due to the intentionally used pump phase modulation are compensated by electronic signal processing in the coherent receiver.

Modulation format conversion from PDM-QPSK to PDM-BPSK using FWM and interference

Our previously proposed modulation format conversion from QPSK to BPSK was limited for a single polarization signal. In this report, we propose a novel conversion method from PDM-QPSK to PDM-BPSK with arbitrary azimuth angles.

A scheme for all-optical encryption/decryption of QPSK signals based on ND-FWM in HNLF is proposed. Theoretical analyses and simulations are conducted. The results are useful for designing optical encryption/decryption for complex modulated signals.
