Abstract

We developed a high-resolution Michelson interferometer with a He–Ne two-frequency laser positioning system, and measured the coherent carrier dynamics of a single InAs self-assembled quantum dot (SAQD) using a micro-spectroscopy system. The phase-locked double pulses were stabilized, with the maximum deviation being below 10 nm during the long measurement time of 1 h. Using this system, coherent control of an exciton in an InAs SAQD with very fine phase stabilization was demonstrated. The dephasing time of the single quantum dots was 9.5 ps which is close to that estimated from the homogeneous linewidth in the photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectrum.

We developed a high-resolution Michelson interferometer in order to stabilize the relative phase of double pulses by using a He-Ne two-frequency laser positioning system. Very stable phase-locked pulse pair whose phase difference was only 4 degree at 900nm was realized.Using a high-resolution Michelson interferometer, we demonstrated coherent control of an exciton in a GaAs/AlGaAs crescent-shaped quantum wire. The dephasing time of the single quantum wire was 400fs.

Development of high resolution Michelson interferometer for stable phase-locked ultrashort pulse pair generation

Takumi Okada, Kazuhiro Komori, Keishiro Goshima +5 more

We developed a high resolution Michelson interferometer with a two-frequency He-Ne laser positioning system in order to stabilize the relative phase of a pulse pair. The control resolution corresponded to a 12 as time resolution or a phase of 1.5 degrees at 900 nm. This high resolution Michelson interferometer can generate a phase-locked pulse pair either with a specific relative phase such as 0 or pi radians or with an arbitrary phase. Coherent control of an InAs self-assembled quantum dot was demonstrated using the high resolution Michelson interferometer with a microspectroscopy system.

Time correlation measurement on single self-assembled quantum dots

Summary form only given. The spectroscopy of individual quantum dots (QDs) using optical micro-probing techniques is opening up possibilities of various applications based on the physics of the zero-dimensional (0D) semiconductor structures. Self-assembled quantum dots (SAQDs) are also attractive 0D structures, where strong confinement on a no-meter scale can be realized. Here, we carried out time-correlation measurements of excited carriers in single SAQDs in order to realize coherent optical control. The sharpness of the resonance lines in single dot photoluminescence allows us to observe a long phase relaxation time.

Decoherence of exciton complexes in single InAlAs quantum dots measured by Fourier spectroscopy

We report the single-photon Fourier spectroscopy of exciton and exciton complexes in single self-assembled InAlAs∕AlGaAs quantum dots. A Michelson interferometer was inserted in the photoluminescence path for measuring the coherence length of the time-averaged emission of neutral excitons and their complexes. The effects of exchange interactions and fluctuations in the surrounding excess charges were estimated by comparing the coherence times and the excitation energies of the excitons and their complexes.

Coherent control of single quantum dot exciton embedded in a photodiode

We study the coherent properties of a two-level system based on the ground state neutral exciton of a single InGaAs self-assembled quantum dot (SAQD) embedded in an n-i-Schottky diode. By using a photocurrent technique, we observe Rabi oscillations of the exciton population for pulse-areas of up to 6π. We perform two pulse quantum interference experiments to deduce the decoherence rate.
