Abstract

We investigate a candidate for the potential implementation of entanglement purification of two entangled nitrogen vacancy (N-V) centers that are coupled with two microtoroidal resonators. In our proposed entanglement purification protocol (EPP), mixed entangled ensembles can be purified with the local parity-check operations. With current and near-future technology, we can achieve the maximally entangled N-V centers nonlocally. And our EPP can be used in quantum repeaters for long-distance quantum communication.

Here we propose two practical protocols to concentrate entanglement between separate nitrogen-vacancy (N-V) centers in less entangled state via coupling to microtoroidal resonators. We construct the parity check gate of the N-V center and microtoroidal resonator systems via the interaction with the ancillary photon input-output process near the microtoroidal resonators. Thus the parity of the N-V center state can be readout by the measurement on the ancillary photon. Then we introduce the parity check operations to entanglement concentration protocols. Considering current techniques, we also discuss the feasibility of our proposal and its experimental challenges.

Implementation of quantum repeaters based on nitrogen-vacancy centers via coupling to microtoroid resonators

We investigate a hybrid entanglement distribution protocol based upon nitrogen vacancy centers and microtoroid resonators. The protocol is based on the input–output relation on the nitrogen-vacancy center and microresonator coupling, and the entanglement can be distributed between photons and solid state qubits with the assistance of microcavity resonance. The protocol can be further generalized to quantum repeaters by introducing entanglement purification and entanglement swapping. As solid state systems are promising candidates for long distance quantum communication, the proposed protocol enables the distant parties to achieve scalable distribution of entanglement. We also discussed the practical performance and possible experimental realizations.

Multipartite entanglement concentration for nitrogen-vacancy center and microtoroidal resonator system

Sheng Sheng, Yubo, Liu . +5 more

We describe a high efcient entanglement concentration protocol(ECP)for multi-particle less-entangled nitrogen-vacancy(N-V)center and microtoroidal resonator system. In the ECP,we only require one pair of less-entangled state, two auxiliary N-V center in microcavities and some single photons. After the photon passing through the microcavity,by measuring the polarization of the photon,a maximally entangled W state can be obtained with some success probability. This ECP does not need to destroy the solid qubit, which makes it more feasible. Moreover,by resorting to more single photons,it can be repeated to reach a high success probability. These features make this ECP useful in current long-distance quantum communications.

Efficient entanglement purification in quantum repeaters

We present an efficient entanglement purification protocol (EPP) with controlled-not (CNOT) gates and linear optics. With the CNOT gates, our EPP can reach a higher fidelity than the conventional one. Moreover, it does not require the fidelity of the initial mixed state to satisfy F > 1/2. If the initial state is not entangled, it still can be purified. With the linear optics, this protocol can get pure maximally entangled pairs with some probabilities. Meanwhile, it can be used to purify the entanglement between the atomic ensembles in distant locations. This protocol may be useful in long-distance quantum communication.
