Entanglement manipulation for mixed states in a multilevel atom interacting with a cavity field

Mahmoud Abdel‐Aty, Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin, A.‐S. F. Obada

We derive an explicit formula for an entanglement measure of mixed quantum states in a multi-level atom interacting with a cavity field within the framework of the quantum mutual entropy. We describe its theoretical basis and discuss its practical relevance (especially in comparison with already known pure state results). The effect of the number of levels involved on the entanglement is demonstrated via examples of three-, four- and five-level atom. Numerical calculations under current experimental conditions are performed and it is found that the number of levels present changes the general features of entanglement dramatically.

The effect of intrinsic decoherence on the dynamics of an Ξ-type qutrit system interacting with a coherent field

A.‐S. F. Obada, Mostafa Hashem, M M Elkhateeb +1 more

Abstract This paper solves milburn’s intrinsic noise (IN) model for a 3-level atom of an Ξ-type interacting with a coherent cavity field via multiphoton transitions. Therefore, the effects of the intrinsic noise and the multi-photon interactions are investigated for some quantum phenomena, such as total correlation, entanglement, and atomic inversion. In general, we found that the collapse-revival phenomenon occurs during the oscillatory behaviour of atomic population dynamics. In addition, the birth-death phenomenon is observed in the negativity dynamics. Entropy, negativity, and mutual information have various dynamics. It is found that, as the entropy increases, the negativity and mutual information diminish to stationary levels. When intrinsic noise is considered, all the phenomena of atomic inversion, entropies, negativity and mutual information exhibit high sensitivity to high intrinsic noise values, except the mutual information dynamics, which is more resistant than that of the other quantifiers.

QUANTUM MECHANICAL CHANNEL AND QUANTUM MUTUAL ENTROPY IN THE TWO-PHOTON JAYNES-CUMMINGS MODEL

Mao-Fa Fang

We have studied the dynamics of the two\|photon Jaynes\|Cummings model (TPJCM) by using the quantum information theory, given the quantum mechanical channel representing the state change of atom, derived the quantum mutual entropy and reduced entropy of the atom, and examined the effects of the phase coherence of initial cavity field and the Stark shift of atomic levels on the quantum mutual entropy in the TPJCM. It is shown that quantum mutual entropy \{evolves\} periodically, quantum mechanical channel transmits periodically the information of atomic initial state to its final states, and quantum mechanical channel and mutual entropy are also dependent on the phase coherence of initial cavity field and on the Stark shift of atomic levels.
