Thermal and spin transports in spin‐½ extended XY chain

Abstract

Abstract The thermal and spin Drude weights of the spin‐½ extended XY chain with three‐spin interaction model [Euro. Phys Jour. B 32, 383 (2003)] are solved exactly. It is shown that the competition between the two‐spin and three‐spin interactions in the system influences the calculated quantities and leads to its characteristic features near the quantum critical point. Quantum phase transition in a spin‐½ XX chain with three‐spin and uniform long‐range interactions

Ping Lou

Abstract A spin‐½ XX chain with three‐spin and uniform long‐range interactions among the z components of the spins is constructed. Based upon the model, using the Jordan–Wigner transformation, the thermodynamic quantities and spin transports of the system are evaluated exactly. The phase diagram together with the key parameters characterizing quantum phase transitions is presented. It is noted that, similarly to classical first‐order phase transitions, there are also the metastable states “supercooled” and “superheated” in the first‐order quantum phase transitions. The spin Drude weight of the spin-1/2 $XXZ$ chain: An analytic finite size study

Andreas Klümper, Kazumitsu Sakai

The Drude weight for the spin transport of the spin-1/2 $XXZ$ Heisenberg chain in the critical regime is evaluated exactly for finite temperatures. We combine the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz with the functional relations of type $Y$-system satisfied by the row-to-row transfer matrices. This makes it possible to evaluate the asymptotic behavior of the finite temperature spin Drude weight with respect to the system size. As a result, the Drude weight converges to the results obtained by Zotos (Phys. Rev. Lett. 82, 1764 (1999)), however with very slow convergence upon increase of the system size. This strong size dependence may explain that extrapolations from various numerical approaches yield conflicting results.

Spin–orbital entanglement near quantum phase transitions

Andrzej M. Oleś, Peter Horsch, Giniyat Khaliullin

Abstract Spin–orbital entanglement in the ground state of a one‐dimensional SU(2) ⊗ SU(2) spin–orbital model is analyzed using exact diagonalization of finite chains. For S = 1/2 spins and T = 1/2 pseudospins one finds that the quantum entanglement is similar at the SU(4) symmetry point and in the spin–orbital valence bond state. We also show that quantum transitions in spin–orbital models turn out to be continuous under certain circumstances, in constrast to the discontinuous transitions in spin models with SU(2) symmetry. Abstract Time evolution of the density of a two‐dimensional fermionic Hubbard system, from left to right in steps of Δt = 1. The first three rows correspond to U = 1 and different particle numbers N = 2; 26; 72. The last row belongs to N = 72 and U = 4. The results are obtained from two‐time T‐matrix calculations. One‐Dimensional Spin‐½ XY Models as Test for Methods in the Spin System Theory

Oleg Derzhko, Taras Verkholyak

The average density of states that determines the thermodynamic properties is calculated analytically and numerically for two random versions of the one-dimensional spin-½ XY model. The exact results obtained are compared with the results derived within some well-known approximate approaches that permits to understand the region of their validity.
