Abstract

We propose a scheme to generate a four-photon polarization-entangled cluster state by using only linear optical elements and four-photon coincidence detection. The scheme requires two single-photon states and one two-photon polarization entangled state as input resources. Then, we consider the realistic implementation of the scheme by using the spontaneous parametric down-conversion as photon resources. It is shown that under certain conditions, the four-photon polarization cluster state can be generated with a high fidelity, and the scheme is feasible by current experimental technology.

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a two-photon four-qubit cluster state generator using linear optics and a single polarization-entangled photon-pair source based on spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC). Our novel scheme provides greater design flexibility compared to previous schemes that rely on hyperentanglement.

Experimental generation of a high-fidelity four-photon linear cluster state

Chao Zhang, Yun‐Feng Huang, Bi‐Heng Liu +2 more

Cluster state plays a crucial role in one-way quantum computation. Here, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a scheme to prepare an ultrahigh-fidelity four-photon linear cluster state via a spontaneous parametric down-conversion process. The state fidelity is measured to be $0.9517\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.0027$. Our scheme can be directly extended to more photons to generate an $N$-qubit linear cluster state. Furthermore, our scheme is optimal for generating photonic linear cluster states in the sense of achieving the maximal success probability and having the simplest strategy. The key idea is that the photon pairs are prepared in some special nonmaximally entangled states instead of the normal Bell states. To generate a $2N$-qubit linear cluster state from $N$ pairs of entangled photons, only $(N\ensuremath{-}1)$ Hong-Ou-Mandel interferences are needed and a success probability of ${(\frac{1}{4})}^{N\ensuremath{-}1}$ is achieved.

Polarization-entangledWstate using parametric down-conversion

Takashi Yamamoto, Kiyoshi Tamaki, Masato Koashi +1 more

An experimental scheme for preparing a polarization entangled W states from four photons emitted by parametric down-conversion is proposed. We consider two different configurations and a method of improving the yield by using single-photon sources. In the proposed scheme, one uses only linear optical elements and photon detectors, so that this scheme is feasible by current technologies.

We propose a scheme for generating a hyperentangled four-photon cluster state that is simultaneously entangled in polarization modes and spatial modes. This scheme is based on linear optical elements, weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity, and homodyne detection. Therefore, it is feasible with current experimental technology.

GENERATION OF MULTIPHOTON POLARIZATION-ENTANGLED CLUSTER STATES AND THE CORRESPONDING OPEN-DESTINATION TELEPORTATION

Di Chang, Yong-Chang Huang

We propose a method to generate multiphoton polarization-entangled cluster states of any number photons by using the fusion operations of two-photon cluster states and a kind of local operation, and then analyze the process of open-destination teleportation of a single photon state using the generated states. Apart from theoretical deductions, we also give the experimentally schematic diagram, which requires only BBOs, Polarization Beam Splitters, half-wave plates, single photon resources as well as some other linear optical elements. The equipment and techniques used here are all feasible under current technology.
