Suppression of wave-particle duality in multiple slit experiments

Eugen Pavel

In this paper, we investigated a five-slit diffraction experiment with multiple photons and a quantum confinement effect (QCE) image sensor. Two types of diffracted photons were identified: (i) Type I with particle behavior and (ii) Type II with wave behavior. Type I and Type II diffracted photons have been characterized. The research showed new aspects of the breakdown of the diffraction limit by the QCE. Our results reveal the potential for new applications in optics and nanotechnologies.

Dynamical confinement and magnetic traps for charges and spins

We use the effective field theory approach to systematically study the dynamics of classical and quantum systems in an oscillating magnetic field. We find that the fast field oscillations give rise to an effective interaction which is able to confine charged particles as well as neutral particles with a spin magnetic moment. The effect is reminiscent of the renown dynamical stabilization of charges by the oscillating electric field and provides a foundation for a new class of magnetic traps. The properties characteristic to the dynamical magnetic confinement are reviewed.

Abstract Observation time is the key parameter for improving the precision of measurements of gravitational quantum states of particles levitating above a reflecting surface. We propose a new method of long confinement in such states of atoms, anti-atoms, neutrons and other particles possessing a magnetic moment. The earth gravitational field and a reflecting mirror confine particles in the vertical direction. The magnetic field originating from electric current passing through a vertical wire confines particles in the radial direction. Under appropriate conditions, motions along these two directions are decoupled to a high degree. We estimate characteristic parameters of the problem, and list possible systematic effects that limit storage times due to the coupling of the two motions.
