Entanglement concentration using a path–spin hybrid-entangled state

Abstract

The entanglement concentration processes for unknown and known non-maximally spin-entangled states are investigated with the aid of intraparticle path–spin hybrid entanglement based on quantum entanglement swapping. The results indicate that the maximally entangled state can be gained with a certain probability by applying operations at local region and classical communication. There is no collective measurement at the end of the realization process, which makes our schemes more efficient to administer.

Scheme for realizing entanglement concentration via generalized measurements

Ch. -Q. Du, Ming Yang, Y. Lu +1 more

How to concentrate non-maximally entangled states for quantum communication is a fundamental problem in quantum information. In this paper, we will apply generalized measurements to entanglement concentration of known non-maximally entangled pure states in arbitrary dimensional system. How to design the generalized measurements for the unambiguous discrimination of linearly independent non-orthogonal states is crucial for the concentration of the known non-maximally entangled states. The result shows that, any known non-maximally entangled pure state (for arbitrary dimensional system) can be transformed to the maximally entangled state only by introducing a qubit as ancilla and a joint unitary transformation operation on one of the entangled particles and the ancilla. In addition, because the less entangled state of each fail round will be re-concentrated too, the entanglement waste during the concentration process will be greatly reduced.

Hybrid Entanglement Concentration and its Application in Hierarchical Quantum Teleportation Network

Chitra Shukla, Priya Malpani, Kishore Thapliyal

The advent of a new kind of entangled state known as hybrid entangled state, i.e., entanglement between different degrees of freedom, makes it possible to perform various quantum computation and communication tasks with lesser amount of resources. Here, we aim to exploit the advantage of these entangled states in communication over quantum networks. Unfortunately, the entanglement shared over the network deteriorates due to its unavoidable interaction with surroundings. Thus, an entanglement concentration protocol is proposed to obtain a maximally entangled hybrid Omega-type state from the corresponding non-maximally entangled states. The advantage of the proposed entanglement concentration protocol is that it is feasible to implement this protocol with linear optical components and present technology. The corresponding linear optical quantum circuit is provided for experimental realizations, while the success probability of the proposed is also reported. We finally have proposed an application of the hybrid entangled state in the hierarchical quantum teleportation network by performing information splitting of a hybrid entangled state, which is also the first hierarchical quantum communication scheme in the hybrid domain so far. The present hybrid entangled state has advantage in circumventing Pauli operations on the coherent state by polarization rotation of single qubit, which can be performed with lesser errors.

Swapping path-spin intraparticle entanglement onto spin-spin interparticle entanglement

Satyabrata Adhikari, A. S. Majumdar, Dipankar Home +1 more

Based on a scheme that produces an entanglement between the spin and the path variables of a single spin-1/2 particle (qubit) using a beam-splitter and a spin-flipper, we formulate a procedure for transferring this intraparticle hybrid entanglement to an interparticle entanglement between the spin variables of two other spatially separated spin-1/2 particles which never interact with each other during the entire process. This procedure of entanglement swapping is accomplished by a Mach-Zehnder setup in conjunction with the Stern-Gerlach measuring device, using suitable unitary operations. The proposed protocol, thus, enables the use of intraparticle entanglement as a resource - a feature that has remained unexplored.

Entanglement concentration of unknown states via the quantum dot plus double-sided cavity system

Xiao-Jie Yuan, Ming Yang, Ping Dong +1 more

In this letter we propose a scheme of entanglement concentration via entanglement swapping in the quantum dot (QD) plus double-sided cavity system with the help of an input photon. With our scheme, bipartite maximally entangled states among two spatially separated particles can be generated without direct interaction and initial entanglement. Moreover, four-particle maximally entangled states can be created too. Contrary to previous work investigating entanglement concentration in QD systems, the non-maximally entangled state to be concentrated can be unknown for us; furthermore, the complicated Bell-state measurement of entanglement swapping is replaced by single-photon detection, which will greatly reduce the realisation complexity of the current scheme.

Research on Intraparticle to Interparticle Entanglement Swapping Protocols

Jiangmei Tang, Shaomeng Wang, Bingyang Liang +1 more

Entanglement is one of the most striking features of quantum systems, whereby its non-classical correlation is an essential resource in numerous quantum protocols. Entanglement can be divided into two categories: interparticle and intraparticle entanglement. There are both distinctions and similarities between these two kinds of entangled states. This work delves into these distinctions and similarities from the following aspects: correlation and non-locality, robustness, the mechanisms of generation and separation, and practical applications. Entanglement swapping is a technique based on quantum entanglement. As entanglement has different categories, entanglement swapping also has various types, including interparticle to interparticle and intraparticle to interparticle. Swapping protocols from intraparticle entanglement to interparticle entanglement can be applied to super quantum dense encoding, quantum information transmission, quantum teleportation, etc. Thus, this work proposes three swapping protocols, from spin–orbit intraparticle entanglement to spin–spin interparticle entanglement, based on Bell state joint measurement, the cross-Kerr medium, and linear optical elements. This work can help us better understand entanglement by analyzing the differences and similarities between the two types of entangled states. It can also enhance entanglement swapping protocols, from spin–orbit intraparticle to spin–spin interparticle entanglement, for use in quantum information transfer.

Entanglement Swapping Schemes on Intraparticle Entangled States

Jiang Mei Tang

Entanglement is one of the most striking features in quantum systems. Today, quantum entanglement plays a vital role in quantum technology, the non-classical correlation of quantum entanglement is an important resource for quantum communication and quantum computing. Entanglement can be divided into two categories: between multi-particle systems and between various degrees of freedom in a single-particle system (intraparticle entangled states). This work first analogized the distinctions and connections between two kinds of entangled states. Then it designed three types of entanglement-swapping methods based on Bell state joint measurement, cross-Kerr medium, and linear optical elements for intraparticle entangled states by analogizing the entanglement swapping between multiple particles. Intraparticle entanglement swapping can be applied in super quantum dense encoding, quantum information transmission, and quantum teleportation. This work is beneficial for promoting the development of quantum information technologies.
