Time-Dependent Renormalization in Non-Equilibrium Thermo Field Dynamics

Abstract

Making use of the thermo field dynamics, we present a preliminary analysis of the non-equilibrium process which transforms an initial non-ordered state to a final ordered state. The time-behavior of the order parameter and of the Goldstone mode is crudely estimated. The result indicates that a systematic formalism of time-dependent renormalization is demanded.

One-Loop Calculation in Time-Dependent Non-Equilibrium Thermo Field Dynamics

Hiroomi Umezawa, Y. Yamanaka

This paper is a review on the structure of thermo field dynamics (TFD) in which the basic concepts such as the thermal doublets, the quasi-particles and the self-consistent renormalization are presented in detail. A strong emphasis is put on the computational scheme. A detailed structure of this scheme is illustrated by the one-loop calculation in a non-equilibrium time-dependent process. A detailed account of the one-loop calculation has never been reported anywhere. The role of the self-consistent renormalization is explained. The equilibrium TFD is obtained as the long-time limit of non-equilibrium TFD.

Annihilation operators associated with unstable vacua in non-equilibrium thermo-field dynamics

Kyo Yoshida, Arimitsu

Out of thermal equilibrium state, the vacuum is unstable and evolves in time.Consequently, the annihilation operators associated with the unstable vacuum depend on time. This dissipative time-evolution of quantum systems can be systematically treated, within the canonical operator formalism referred to as non-equilibrium thermo-field dynamics.Given is an alternative route to derive the time-dependent annihilation operators within the formalism. As an example, time-dependent annihilation operators for the systems of bosonic and fermionic semi-free fields are derived.

Spontaneous Creation of Dissipation in Thermo Field Dynamics

Toshihico Arimitsu, M Guida, Hiroomi Umezawa

By generalizing the form of the thermal-state condition, the formalism of thermo field dynamics in the renormalized interaction representation is generalized to include both the equilibrium and nonequilibrium situations. It is shown how the dissipative effect arises naturally through the self-consistent renormalization, which is frequently dependent on time.

Perturbation expansion and initial-state correlations in non-equilibrium thermo-field dynamics

H. Matsumoto, Francesco Paolo Mancini, M. Marinaro

A perturbation scheme in non-equilibrium thermo-field dynamics is developed by taking into account the initial-state correlations. Two methods are proposed: in the first method the time dependence of amplitudes and their initial values are evaluated by two independent perturbation schemes while in the second method the two perturbation schemes are combined by use of a fictitious past.

Non-Equilibrium Thermo Field Dynamics

Toshihico Arimitsu, Hiroomi Umezawa

A fundamental framework for the construction of a quantum field theory for open systems, which will be called non-equilibrium thermo field dynamics (NETFD), is built upon two concepts. One is the thermal state in the thermal-Liouville space, by which the quasi-particle superoperator is introduced generally from the thermal state condition. The other is the coarse graining which is realized by projecting out some partial space from the complete thermal-Liouville space, and by which the dissipation is introduced. Most properties of the usual quantum field theory (e.g., the operator formalism, the time-ordered formulation of the Green’s functions, the Feynman diagram method in real time, etc.) are preserved in NETFD. The entropy for the nonequilibrium state can be also introduced in NETFD.

Dissipative Two-State System at Non-Equilibrium: Real Time Green's Function Approach

H.Y. Chu, Z. Ye, F. C. Khanna +1 more

In this paper we study the dynamical properties of a dissipative two-state fermionic system embedded in a phonon bath at finite temperature. The non-equilibrium thermo field dynamics, a real time formalism of thermal quantum field theory, is employed to formulate time dependent energy renormalization and derive transport equations. The renormalization procedures derived in this paper replace the on-shell energy definitions in stationary situations and thus can be used in any situations. The procedure reduces to that of equilibrium situations when there is no time dependence. We show that in a system where there are many coupled stages (with multi-components) quantum fluctuations among these states cannot be eliminated so that the long time limit of non-equilibrium theory does not exactly reproduce an equilibrium theory. The procedures and conclusions obtained also apply to more general systems with multi-components.
