Abstract

It is shown that under some assumptions concerning the motion of an electron, the Feynman sum over trajectories is identical with the propagation function of the Dirac equation. (tr-auth)

Feynman path summation for the Dirac equation: An underlying one-dimensional aspect of relativistic particle motion

Gerald Rosen

It is observed that the Feynman path summation for the one-dimensional Dirac equation can be projected into three spatial dimensions to yield a path-summation formula for physical spin-\textonehalf{} particles of nonzero mass. Since the three-space projection matrix is independent of time and does not involve the particle's mass, relativistic motion governed by the Dirac equation has an underlying one-dimensional aspect.

Classical Motions of Spin-½ Particles

Kenneth Rafanelli, Ralph Schiller

From the WKB solutions to the squared Dirac equation we derive the classical trajectories and spin precessions originally postulated by Bargmann, Michel, and Telegdi for charged spin-\textonehalf{} particles. Identical equations of motion are obtained from the WKB solutions to the Dirac equation.

An analog of the Feynman-Kac formula for Dirac's electron in electromagnetic field and the correspondence principle

A. A. Beilinson

The article describes a relation between the fundamental solutions of Dirac's equations for free electron and electron in given electromagnetic field viewed as functionals on bump functions. We explain how classical relativistic mechanics of a charged particle in given electromagnetic field arises from quantum mechanics of Dirac's electron in that field.

THE HYDRODYNAMIC REPRESENTATION OF THE FEYNMAN AND GELL-MANN EQUATION

J. C. Aron

ABS>A hydrodynamic representation was established for the Dirac equation, eliminating the wave functions and including only physical magnitudes. It is shown, in the present article, that a hydrodyramic representation can also be obtained for the Feynman and Gell-Mann equation. This representation, with some corrective terms, agrees with that of the Pauli and Dirac equations. (tr- auth)
