Thermodynamics of BTZ black hole and entanglement entropy

Abstract

The BTZ black Hole is (2+1) dimensional black hole solution asymptotic to anti-de-Sitter space-time. We study the discretized quantum scalar fields in background of non-rotating BTZ black hole space-time and construct the entanglement thermodynamics for massless scalar field. The behavior of the entanglement energy is understood by red shift factor caused by the curved background. The entanglement thermodynamics is compared with the black hole thermodynamics.

Thermodynamics of entanglement in Schwarzschild spacetime

Shinji Mukohyama A, Masafumi Seriu, Hideo Kodama

Extending the analysis in our previous paper, we construct the entanglement thermodynamics for a massless scalar field on Schwarzschild spacetime. Contrary to the flat case, the entanglement energy ${E}_{\mathrm{ent}}$ turns out to be proportional to the area radius of the boundary if it is near the horizon. This peculiar behavior of ${E}_{\mathrm{ent}}$ can be understood by the redshift effect caused by the curved background. Combined with the behavior of the entanglement entropy, this result yields, quite surprisingly, the entanglement thermodynamics of the same structure as black hole thermodynamics. On the basis of these results, we discuss the relevance of the concept of entanglement as the microscopic origin of black hole thermodynamics.

Fermion Fields in BTZ Black Hole Space-Time and Entanglement Entropy

Dharm Veer Singh, Sanjay Siwach

We study the entanglement entropy of fermion fields in BTZ black hole space-time and calculate prefactor of the leading and subleading terms and logarithmic divergence term of the entropy using the discretized model. The leading term is the standard Bekenstein-Hawking area law and subleading term corresponds to first quantum corrections in black hole entropy. We also investigate the corrections to entanglement entropy for massive fermion fields in BTZ space-time. The mass term does not affect the area law.

Power law corrections to BTZ black hole entropy

Dharm Veer Singh

We study the quantum scalar field in the background of BTZ black hole and evaluate the entanglement entropy of the nonvacuum states. The entropy is proportional to the area of event horizon for the ground state, but the area law is violated in the case of nonvacuum states (first excited state and mixed states) and the corrections scale as power law.

Logarithmic corrections to the entropy of scalar field in BTZ black hole spacetime

Dharm Veer Singh, Shobhit Sachan

The entanglement entropy correlates two quantum subsystems which are part of a larger system. A logarithmic divergence term present in the entanglement entropy is universal in nature and directly proportional to the conformal anomaly. We study this logarithmic divergence term of entropy for massive scalar field in [Formula: see text] dimensions by applying numerical techniques to entanglement entropy approach. This (2+1)-dimensional massive theory can be obtained from the (3+1)-dimensional massless scalar field via dimensional reduction. We also calculated mass corrections to entanglement entropy for scalar field. Finally, we observe that the area law contribution to the entanglement entropy is not affected by this mass term and the universal quantities depend upon the basic properties of the system.

One-to-one correspondence between entanglement mechanics and black hole thermodynamics

S. Mahesh Chandran, S. Shankaranarayanan

We establish a one-to-one mapping between entanglement energy, entropy, and temperature (quantum entanglement mechanics) with Komar energy, black hole entropy, and Hawking temperature, respectively. We show this explicitly for 4D spherically symmetric asymptotically flat and nonflat space-times with single and multiple horizons. We exploit an inherent scaling symmetry of entanglement entropy and identify scaling transformations that generate an infinite number of systems with the same entanglement entropy, distinguished only by their respective energies and temperatures. We show that this scaling symmetry is present in most well-known systems starting from the two-coupled harmonic oscillator to quantum scalar fields in spherically symmetric space-time. The scaling symmetry allows us to identify the cause of divergence of entanglement entropy to the generation of (near) zero-modes in the systems. We systematically isolate the zero-mode contributions using suitable boundary conditions. We show that the entanglement entropy and energy of quantum scalar field scale differently in space-times with horizons and flat space-time. The relation $E=2TS$, in analogy with the horizon's thermodynamic structure, is also found to be universally satisfied in the entanglement picture. We then show that there exists a one-to-one correspondence leading to the Smarr-formula of black hole thermodynamics for asymptotically flat and nonflat space-times.

Geometric entropy and time-like entanglement entropy on a rotating BTZ black hole

Huayu Dai, Xi-Hao Fang, Mitsutoshi Fujita A +1 more

In this paper, we analyze the double Wick rotation of a rotating BTZ black hole and the entanglement entropy. We derive the transition matrix dual to the double Wick-rotated BTZ black hole, which has the usual shape at an imaginary chemical potential. In the dual gravity side, the double Wick rotated BTZ black hole, which is obtained as a quotient, is equal to a rotating BTZ black hole after the coordinate transformation and the identification of periodicity. The geometric entropy and time-like entanglement entropy are reproduced by the identification. New Lorentzian entanglement growth is defined by the coefficient of linear growth of time-like entanglement entropy.
