Controlling a cluster of interacting quantum dot molecules by laser pulses – a computer experiment
Claus Metzner
Abstract
We theoretically investigate the use of random, self-organized clusters of strain-coupled QDMs for coherent laser control experiments. As a first step, we do not rely on entangled states, but describe the array of QDMs in a time-dependent Hartree-picture. The individual electrons, confined to separate QDMs, are treated as two-level quantum oscillators, which are coupled by long-range Coulomb interactions. The dynamics of the system under the influence of coherent classical laser fields is then calculated by solving the coupled density matrix equations for the electrons. We consider various possible experiments of increasing complexity (including nonlinear absorption, selective bleaching and coherent emission), which would allow to achieve and/or confirm the mutual coupling of the oscillators.
