Bose condensate inb interaction with excitations - a two-component space-dependent model close to equilibrium

Leif Arkeryd, Anne Nouri

The paper considers a model for Bose gases in the so-called 'high-temperature range' below the temperature Tc, where Bose-Einstein condensation sets in.The model is of non-linear two-component type, consisting of a kinetic equation with periodic boundary conditions for the distribution function of a gas of excitations interacting with a Bose condensate, which is described by a Gross-Pitaevskii equation. Results on well-posedness and long time behaviour are proved in a H1-setting close to equilibrium.

Kinetics of the Dephasing and the Condensation of Excitons

O.M. Schmitt, P. Gärtner, L. Bnyai +2 more

The dephasing and condensation kinetics of bosonic excitons after coherent pulse excitation is studied in the vicinity of a Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC). For a system of excitons interacting with acoustic phonons various excitation conditions are investigated. Significant qualitative changes of the polarization dephasing in the vicinity of the BEC are discussed. Furthermore the kinetics of excitons, interacting via a two particle interaction, is studied. Both the bosonic mean-field terms and the scattering terms are calculated on a microscopic level. As in the phonon-model the dephasing rate of the exciton–exciton scattering diminishes considerably in the vicinity of the BEC. All results are suited as experimentally observable signatures of an excitonic BEC.

Boltzmann-type collision operators for Bogoliubov excitations of Bose-Einstein condensates: A unified framework

Minh-Binh Tran, Yves Pomeau A

Starting from the Bogoliubov diagonalization for the Hamiltonian of a weakly interacting Bose gas under the presence of a Bose-Einstein condensate, we derive the kinetic equation for the Bogoliubov excitations. Without dropping any of the commutators, we find three collisional processes. One of them describes the 1↔2 interactions between the condensate and the excited atoms. The other two describe the 2↔2 and 1↔3 interactions between the excited atoms themselves.
