Emission anomalous optical magnetic resonances in a mixture of even neon isotopes

Abstract

Unusual resonances have been detected in the dependence of the discharge glow in neon on the longitudinal magnetic field. The resonances appear in fairly high magnetic fields and are observed only at low gas pressures and exclusively in a mixture of 20 Ne and 22 Ne isotopes. This phenomenon is an evidence of collective resonant radiation processes involving atoms of different neon isotopes.

Optical magnetic resonances induced by the interference of reactive components in the near radiation-field zone of atoms in a glow discharge of a mixture of even neon isotopes

Э. Г. Сапрыкин

Four types of anomalous optical magnetic resonances shifted with respect to the zero magnetic field and with different shapes are found in radiation of a glow discharge in a mixture of even neon isotopes placed in a swept longitudinal magnetic field. This testifies to the manifestation of collective processes of synchronous light emission by oscillators belonging to isotopically different spatially separated atoms in discharge plasma. The origin of resonances is associated with nonstationary interference of reactive fields in the near radiation-field zones of emission of atoms, averaged over the lifetime of the fields (interference), while different types of resonances are associated with different methods of synchronization of the phases of the fields.

Identification of optical magnetic resonances generated in a neon discharge by coherent transitions of spatially separated isotopically different atoms

Э. Г. Сапрыкин

Infrared (IR) transitions are identified in the neon spectrum in the range 0.76-15.8 μm, they generate resonances due to quadrature field synchronization of spatially separated isotopically different atoms. The use of numerical methods for the analysis of low-contrast IR resonances made it possible to estimate the previously unknown isotopic shifts of their parent transitions levels. A change in the amplitude sign of quadrature optical-magnetic resonances with a change in the isotopic shift sign of the transitions that generate them is found, and the dependence of the lifetime of such coherent atom pairs on the transitions wavelength is recorded, showing an unusual reaching the plateau as the wavelength decreases. It is assumed that this is due to expansion of the response time of the neighboring excited atoms of the isotopic pair to their fields interference. Keywords: neon, IR transitions, field interference, coherent atom pairs.

Observation of polarized atoms of rubidium isotopes in experiments on optical orientation in a He–Rb mixture under conditions of a pulsed gas discharge

Sergei P. Dmitriev, N. A. Dovator, Victor A. Kartoshkin +1 more

We are the first to have observed magnetic resonance signals from atoms of 85 Rb and 87 Rb isotopes when using the indirect optical orientation in conditions of helium–rubidium gas discharge plasma. An anomalously small ratio of magnetic resonance signals from isotopes of rubidium and metastable helium upon optical orientation of 4 Не atoms has been detected. The experimental results have been considered theoretically, and an explanation of the observed anomaly in the signals is presented.Z

Peculiarities of the magneto-optical resonances on 2p53s states in a NE glow discharge

А. П. Горбенко, Alexander Kuzmin, Vladimir A. Polischuk +4 more

In continuation of our previous works, systematic investigation of the magneto-optical (MO) resonances from the 3P1(1s4) (Pashen notation), 3P2 (1s5), and 3P0 (1s3) levels of NeI was carried out. This study aims to clarify the formation mechanisms of the neon 1si (2p53s) states coherences. Anomalous MO resonances are experimentally observed and the possible mechanisms of their creation are discussed.

Effect of Buffer Gas Influence on Magnetically-Induced Transitions in 87Rb Atoms, D2 Line

Armen D. Sargsyan, A. S. Sarkisyan, David G. Sarkisyan

Abstract Unusual magnetically-induced (MI) transitions Fg =1 → Fe = 3 of the 87Rb atoms, D2 lines, forbidden in the absence of magnetic field but becoming significant in magnetic fields >500 G have been studied. The effect of the buffer gas of neon on MI transitions was studied using the process of resonant absorption of laser radiation in a nanocell (NC) with Rb atomic vapors with an NC thickness L = 390 nm and a buffer gas of neon with the pressures of 6 and 20 Torr. The use of NC enables to achieve high spectral resolution and selectively study the MI transitions. It was found that the addition of neon to the cell results in a decrease in the amplitude of the MI transition and its spectral broadening (for some optical processes, the addition of a buffer gas results in an improvement of the parameters). The optimal power of a CW laser for the effective formation of the MI transitions was found to be equal to 10 μW.
