The Effects of Collimation and Oblique Incidence on the Visibility of Interference Fringes
B. S. Thornton
The visibility of two-beam interference fringes is of interest in the measurement of long lengths, as well as being one of the earliest means of analysing the fine structure of spectral lines. The aim of this paper is to investigate how the size of the aperture through which the light enters the interferometer affects the visibility of the fringes, in the case of a narrow slit and a circular aperture.
