Dual squeezed states

Abstract

Collective operators corresponding to two different algebras have been introduced for a simple system consisting of a single two-level atom and a high-quality cavity mode. The generators of the first algebra satisfy boson commutation relations, whereas the generators of the second algebra have been obtained by polynomial deformation of su(2) algebra. It has been shown that dual squeezed states identified using the considered commutation relations can be observed in the system placed in an entangled bath with quantum correlations.

Dual squeezed states in an atom-photon cluster and their manifestations

Andrew I. Trubilko

The general kinetic equation for an isolated two-level atom and a high- Q cavity mode in a heat bath exhibiting quantum correlations (entangled bath) is applied to the analysis of the squeezed states of the collective system. Two types of collective operators are introduced for the analysis: one is based on bosonic commutation relations, and the other, on the commutation relations of the algebra obtained by a polynomial deformation of the angular momentum algebra. On the basis of these relations, formulas for observables are constructed that identify squeezed states in the system. It is shown that, under certain conditions, the collective system exhibits dual squeezing within the relations for boson operators, as well as for the operators constructed from the angular momentum algebra. Such squeezing is demonstrated under a projective measurement of an atom and for an entanglement swapping protocol. In the latter case, when measuring two initially independent atomic systems, depending on the type of measurement, two cavity modes collapse into a nonseparable state, which is described either by a nonseparability relation based on boson operators or by a relation based on the operators of the algebra of the quasimomentum of the collective system consisting of these two modes.

Correlations of a single atom and a resonance mode and their manifestation in some physical phenomena

В. Н. Горбачев, Andrew I. Trubilko

A kinetic equation governing relaxation of a single two-level atom and a high- Q cavity mode in an entangled thermostat exhibiting quantum correlations is presented. Based on two kinds of collective operators, we demonstrate the possibility of the existence of dual squeezed states in this system. One kind of generator of collective operators corresponds to algebra obtained by polynomial deformation of the angular-momentum algebra, while the other kind corresponds to the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra. Squeezed states of the collective system are defined in terms of commutative relations for operators of the corresponding generator algebras. It is shown that quantum correlations in the system manifest themselves in two physical phenomena. The first one is the known entanglement-swapping protocol and is based on the projection measurement. In the other case, quantum correlations reveal themselves in the coherent scattering dynamics of an atom in the field of a standing light wave.

Multi-mode, multi-photon coherent states

Jacob Katriel, A. I. Solomon

A two-mode photon operator satisfying the canonical boson commutation relations is used to define two-mode coherent states for the Weyl, SU(2) and SU(1,l) groups. In all these cases squeezing is determined by an appropriate correlation, which we evaluate. The generalisation to multi-mode, many-photon states is indicated. In this letter we introduce a formalism for describing coherent states, tailored to the multi-mode case. We shall present the two-mode case for definiteness, although the generalisation to several modes will be obvious. Similarly, we show at the end of this note how to accommodate multi-photon states with little extra effort. States associ- ated with the Weyl group (two-mode coherent states), and the groups SU.(2) and SU(1,l) will be given; and we show that (for a specific representation) the last case reduces to the two-mode sqaeezed states of Caves and Schumaker (1986). In the conventional quantum optics approach, a mode of the electromagnetic field is represented by a creation (annihilation) operator a(at), with commutation relation (a, a') = 1. Our starting point in considering the two-mode case is to introduce a two-mode operator A analogous to the single-mode operator a. We do this by defining (Katriel and Hummer 1981) A = (max(Al, A2) + 1)'2ala2 , (1) Here al, a2 are the (annihilation) operators referring to each mode; they obey the basic commutation relation (ai, ait) = 6, but commute with each other. The number operators AI, A2 are defined in the usual way, Ai = aitai and functions of Ai will be evaluated in simultaneous eigenstates of rii, where of course they equal the functions of the corresponding eigenvalues. Now, we may show easily that (A, A') = 1. We note that AA = AtA = min(A1, h2). (The generalisation of (1) to three (or more) modes, which we shall not pursue, is immediate on replacing one of the two single-mode operators by a two-mode one.) Note that all the states defined here give variance-free single-mode operators; since At always creates equal numbers of 1 and 2 modes

Deformed two-photon squeezed states in noncommutative space

Jian-zu Zhang A B

Recent studies on nonperturbation aspects of noncommutative quantum mechanics explored a new type of boson commutation relations at the deformed level, described by deformed annihilation–creation operators in noncommutative space. This correlated boson commutator correlates different degrees of freedom, and shows an essential influence on dynamics. This Letter devotes to the development of formalism of deformed two-photon squeezed states in noncommutative space. General representations of deformed annihilation–creation operators and the consistency condition for the electromagnetic wave with a single mode of frequency in noncommunicative space are obtained. Two-photon squeezed states are studied. One finds that variances of the dimensionless Hermitian quadratures of the annihilation operator in one degree of freedom include variances in the other degree of freedom. Such correlations show the new feature of spatial noncommutativity and allow a deeper understanding of the correlated boson commutator.

Transfer of quantum correlations in nonunitary evolution

В. Н. Горбачев, Andrew I. Trubilko

A generalized Lindblad equation has been derived for describing the evolution of two dynamical systems interacting with a bath formed by two broadband modes of squeezed light in an entangled state. The transfer of quantum correlations, in particular, entanglement between the bath and dynamic systems, which are taken in the form of two electromagnetic field modes separated by two high- Q cavities, two atoms, and an atom and a mode, has been analyzed. It has been found that the entanglement of the bath is transferred both to two modes and to two atoms, which can form an almost perfect Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen pair. It has been shown that the interaction of the bath with the system consisting of an atom and a mode for which collective boson operators are introduced leads to the appearance of coherent and squeezed states.

Excitation and depletion of entangled squeezed states: their properties and generation

elnaz dibakar, Amir Karimi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly

Recently, two-mode entangled squeezed states have been produced using even and odd squeezed states. Based on such entangled states, we introduce two new classes of quantum states, namely single-mode excited (depleted) entangled squeezed states which are obtained via the iterated action of the creation (annihilation) operator on the first mode of the two-mode entangled squeezed states. In continuation, we study the amount of entanglement of the introduced states by calculating the 'concurrence' and 'linear entropy'. In addition, we investigate several nonclassicality features such as the sub-Poissonian statistics, second-order correlation function between the two modes and quadrature squeezing. Finally, in order to establish the physical realization of the introduced states, a theoretical scheme for their generation based on the interaction of a two-level atom with a quantized cavity field is proposed.
