Abstract

Continuous-variable (CV) entanglement frequency comb can be produced by enhanced Raman scattering in an above-threshold optical oscillator cavity in which a hexagonally-poled LiTaO3 crystal resides as a Raman gain medium. The Stokes and anti-Stokes Raman signals are enhanced by a coupled quasi-phase-matching optical parametric process and the entanglement natures among these Raman signals and pump are demonstrated by applying a sufficient inseparability criterion for CV entanglement. Such entanglement frequency comb source with different frequencies and continuously tunable frequency interval may be very significant for the applications in quantum communication and networks.

We propose a scheme to produce continuous-variable pair-entanglement frequency comb by enhanced Raman scattering in an optical oscillator cavity in which a hexagonally poled ${\text{LiTaO}}_{3}$ locates as a Raman gain crystal. The Stokes and anti-Stokes Raman signals are enhanced by a coupled quasi-phase-matching optical parametric process and their entanglement characteristics are studied by applying necessary and sufficient inseparability criterion for continuous-variable entanglement. This scheme of generating continuous-variable pair-entanglement frequency comb source may be very significant for the application in quantum communication and computation networks.

Multi-colour entanglement directly generated by the enhanced Raman scattering

Youbin Yu, Fengmin Ji, Zhongtao Shi +5 more

Abstract Multi-colour continuous-variable frequency comb entanglement can be directly generated by enhanced Raman scattering in a hexagonally-poled LiTaO 3 optical superlattice. Raman scattering signals are distinctly boosted by a coupled quasi-phase-matching optical parametric amplification process which has been realized in a previous experiment (Xu et al 2005 Phys. Rev . B 72 064307). The conversion dynamics of the coupled optical parametric amplification process is investigated here using quantum stochastic methodology, and the nature of entanglement among the Raman signals is discussed by applying a necessary and sufficient continuous variable criterion. Multi-colour entanglement with the same frequency interval can be obtained directly, with no optical oscillator cavity, in the enhanced Raman scattering process; this has potential application in quantum communication and computation networks.

Bright three-color continuous-variable entanglement generated by a cascaded sum-frequency process in an optical cavity

Youbin Yu, Huaijun Wang

Bright three-color continuous-variable (CV) entanglement generated by a cascaded sum-frequency process in an optical cavity is investigated. The second- and fourth-harmonic beams can be generated by two quasi-phase-matched cascaded sum-frequency processes in a quasi-periodic optical superlattice. Quantum correlations among the fundamental and second- and fourth-harmonic beams are calculated and discussed by applying a sufficient and necessary inseparability criterion for CV three-mode entanglement. Strong three-color CV entanglement beams with a double frequency interval can be produced in this simple system. It is experimentally feasible and may be very useful for applications in quantum communication and computation networks.

Generation of Enhanced Three-Mode Continuously Variable Entanglement

Youbin Yu, Huai-Jun Wang, Jinxia Feng

The generation of enhanced three-mode continuously variable (CV) entanglement via difference-frequency amplification in an optical cavity above the threshold is investigated. The quantum entanglement characteristics among the pump, signal, and idler beams are demonstrated by applying a sufficient inseparability criterion for CV entanglement proposed by van Loock and Furusawa. Bright three-mode CV entanglement with different frequencies can be generated in this simple system when the optical cavity operates above its threshold, and the best three-mode CV entanglement can be obtained when the pump threshold parameter is modulated at about σ = 1.3.

Generation of bright quadricolor continuous-variable entanglement by four-wave-mixing process

Youbin Yu, Jiteng Sheng, Min Xiao

We propose an experimentally feasible scheme to produce bright quadricolor continuous-variable (CV) entanglement by a four-wave mixing process (FWM) with four-level atoms inside the optical ring cavities operating above threshold. The Stokes and anti-Stokes beams are generated via the pump beam (tuned close to one atomic transition) and the coupling beam (tuned to the resonance of another atomic transition), respectively. The quadruply resonant and narrowed linewidth of the cavity fields with different frequencies are achieved and quadricolor CV entanglement among the four cavity fields is demonstrated according to the criterion proposed by van Loock and Furusawa [Phys. Rev. A 67, 052315 (2003)]. This scheme provides a way to generate bright quadricolor CV entanglement and will be significant for applications in quantum information processing and quantum networks.

Large-scale continuous-variable dual-rail cluster entangled state based on spatial mode comb

J. Zhang, J. J. Wang, Rongguo Yang +2 more

In recent continuous-variable (CV) multipartite entanglement researches, the number of fully inseparable light modes has been increased dramatically by the introduction of a multiplexing scheme in either the time domain or the frequency domain. In this paper, we propose a scheme that a large-scale (≥ 20) CV dual-rail cluster entangled state is established based on a spatial mode comb in a self-imaging optical parametric oscillator, which is pumped by two spatial Laguerre-Gaussian modes with different polarization and identical frequency. A sufficient condition of full inseparability for a CV dual-rail cluster entangled state is used to evaluate the degree of quantum entanglement. It is shown that entanglement exists over a wide range of analyzing frequency and pump parameter. We have found a new scheme that uses the optical parametric cavity to generate a large-scale entanglement based on optical spatial mode comb. The presented system will be hopefully as a practical entangled source for quantum information.
