Abstract

Abstract From the Heisenberg uncertainty relation in conjunction with partial transposition, we derive a class of inequalities for detecting entanglements in four-mode states. The sufficient conditions for bipartite entangled states are presented. We also discuss the generalization of the entanglement conditions via the Schrödinger-Robertson indeterminacy relation, which are in general stronger than those based on the Heisenberg uncertainty relation.

Entanglement conditions for tripartite systems via indeterminacy relations

Lijun Song, Xiaoguang Wang, Dong Yan +1 more

Based on the S-R indeterminacy relations in conjugation with the partial transposition, we derive a class of inequalities for detecting entanglement in several tripartite systems, including bosonic, SU(2), and SU(1,1) systems. These inequalities are in general stronger than those based on the usual Heisenberg relations for detecting entanglement. We also discuss the reduction from SU(2) and SU(1,1) to bosonic systems and the generalization to multipartite case.

Entanglement criteria via the uncertainty relations in su(2) and su(1,1) algebras: Detection of non-Gaussian entangled states

Hyunchul Nha, Jaewan Kim

We derive a class of inequalities, from the uncertainty relations of the su(1,1) and the su(2) algebra in conjunction with partial transposition, that must be satisfied by any separable two-mode states. These inequalities are presented in terms of the su(2) operators ${J}_{x}=({a}^{\ifmmode\dagger\else\textdagger\fi{}}b+a{b}^{\ifmmode\dagger\else\textdagger\fi{}})∕2$, ${J}_{y}=({a}^{\ifmmode\dagger\else\textdagger\fi{}}b\ensuremath{-}a{b}^{\ifmmode\dagger\else\textdagger\fi{}})∕2i$, and the total photon number $⟨{N}_{a}+{N}_{b}⟩$. They include as special cases the inequality derived by Hillery and Zubairy [Phys. Rev. Lett. 96, 050503 (2006)], and the one by Agarwal and Biswas [New J. Phys. 7, 211 (2005)]. In particular, optimization over the whole inequalities leads to the criterion obtained by Agarwal and Biswas. We show that this optimal criterion can detect entanglement for a broad class of non-Gaussian entangled states, i.e., the su(2) minimum-uncertainty states. Experimental schemes to test the optimal criterion are also discussed, especially the one using linear optical devices and photodetectors.

Multipartite entanglement criterion from uncertainty relations

Jérémie Gillet, Thierry Bastin, G. S. Agarwal

We formulate an entanglement criterion using Peres-Horodecki positive partial transpose operations combined with the Schr\"odinger-Robertson uncertainty relation. We show that any pure entangled bipartite and tripartite state can be detected by experimentally measuring mean values and variances of specific observables. Those observables must satisfy a specific condition in order to be used, and we show their general form in the $2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2$ (two qubits) dimension case. The criterion is applied on a variety of physical systems including bipartite and multipartite mixed states and reveals itself to be stronger than the Bell inequalities and other criteria. The criterion also work on continuous variable cat states and angular momentum states of the radiation field.

Uncertainty Inequalities as Entanglement Criteria for Negative Partial-Transpose States

Hyunchul Nha, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

In this Letter, we show that the fulfillment of uncertainty relations is a sufficient criterion for a quantum-mechanically permissible state. We specifically construct two pseudospin observables for an arbitrary nonpositive Hermitian matrix whose uncertainty relation is violated. This method enables us to systematically derive separability conditions for all negative partial-transpose states in experimentally accessible forms. In particular, generalized entanglement criteria are derived from the Schrödinger-Robertson inequalities for bipartite continuous-variable states.

Entanglement condition using Schrodinger-Robertson uncertainty relation

Zhongsheng Pu, Kangkang Fan, Guanqiang Song +1 more

Compared with the Heisenberg uncertainty relation, Schrodinger-Robertson uncertain relation generally provides stronger bound on product of uncertainties for two noncommutation observables, so the stricter separability condition can be provided by using Schrodinger-Robertson uncertainty relation. In this paper, using the Schrodinger Robertson uncertainty relation, the separability condition previously proposed by L. M. Duan is improved into the stricter separability condition. Then we extend the above ideas to the general two-mode situation and multi-mode terms, some new separation conditions are obtained.

Entanglement Condition for W Type Multimode States and a Scheme for Experimental Realization

M. Karthick Selvan, Prasanta Kumar Panigrahi

We derive a class of inequality relations, using both the sum uncertainty relations of su(2) algebra operators and the Schrodinger-Robertson uncertainty relation of partially transposed su(1, 1) algebra operators, to detect the three-mode entanglement of non-Gaussian states of electromagnetic field. These operators are quadratic in mode creation and annihilation operators. The inseparability condition obtained using su(2) algebra operators is shown to guarantee the violation of stronger separability condition provided by Schrodinger-Robertson uncertainty relation of partially transposed su(1, 1) algebra operators. The obtained inseparability condition is also shown to be a necessary condition for W type entangled states and it is used to derive the general form for a family of such inseparability conditions. An experimental scheme is proposed to test the violation of separability condition. The results derived for three-mode systems are generalized to multimode systems.
