It is shown that the equation of motion for the classical continuous Heisenberg spin chain with uniaxial anisotropy is obtained as a reduction of the two-component derivative nonlinear Schrodinger equation.

Critical properties of the spin-1 Heisenberg chain with uniaxial anisotropy

Ueli Glaus, T. Schneider

We use finite-size scaling to determine the critical properties of spin-1 chains with uniaxial single-ion anisotropy $D$. A phase diagram is obtained in the ($D$, $\ensuremath{\Delta}$) plane, where $\ensuremath{\Delta}$ is the strength of the interaction in the direction of the single-ion anisotropy. Critical exponents are estimated.

We use finite-size scaling to determine the critical properties of spin-1 chains with uniaxial single-ion anisotropy DDD. A phase diagram is obtained in the (DDD, $\ensuremath{\Delta}$) plane, where $\ensuremath{\Delta}$ is the strength of the interaction in the direction of the single-ion anisotropy. Critical exponents are estimated.
