Abstract

We give the method of bosonization of chiral fermions on arbitrary genus Riemann surface using KN basis. We calculate the bosonized correlation functions between chiral fermions and those including U (1) current with the help of KN operator formalism.

HIGHER GENUS WAVEFUNCTION OF ANYON SYSTEM

Jnanadeva Maharana, Sudhakar Panda

A method is proposed for constructing the wavefunction of anyons on Riemann surfaces of arbitrary genus. This has been carried out in the framework of computing the correlation function of the chiral vertex operators, involving free scalar fields, with appropriate external momenta. Our technique, as a check, reproduces the already known anyonic wavefunction on the sphere as well as that on the torus.

Bosonization of interacting fermions in arbitrary dimension beyond the Gaussian approximation

Peter Kopietz, Joachim Hermisson, Kurt Schönhammer

We use our recently developed functional bosonization approach to bosonize interacting fermions in arbitrary dimension d beyond the Gaussian approximation. Even in d=1 the finite curvature of the energy dispersion at the Fermi surface gives rise to interactions between the bosons. In higher dimensions scattering processes describing momentum transfer between different patches on the Fermi surface (around-the-corner processes) are an additional source for corrections to the Gaussian approximation. We derive an explicit expression for the leading correction to the bosonized Hamiltonian and the irreducible self-energy of the bosonic propagator that takes the finite curvature as well as around-the-corner proceses into account. In the special case that around-the-corner scattering is negligible, we show that the self-energy correction to the Gaussian propagator is negligible if the dimensionless quantities (${\mathit{q}}_{\mathit{c}}$/${\mathit{k}}_{\mathit{F}}$${)}^{\mathit{d}}$${\mathit{F}}_{0}$ [1+${\mathit{F}}_{0}$${]}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$\ensuremath{\mu}/${\ensuremath{\nu}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\alpha}}}$\ensuremath{\Vert}\ensuremath{\partial}${\ensuremath{\nu}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\alpha}}}$/\ensuremath{\partial}\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\Vert} are small compared with unity for all patches \ensuremath{\alpha}. Here ${\mathit{q}}_{\mathit{c}}$ is the cutoff of the interaction in wave-vector space, ${\mathit{k}}_{\mathit{F}}$ is the Fermi wave vector, \ensuremath{\mu} is the chemical potential, ${\mathit{F}}_{0}$ is the usual dimensionless Landau interaction parameter, and ${\ensuremath{\nu}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\alpha}}}$ is the local density of states associated with patch \ensuremath{\alpha}. We also show that the well-known cancellation between vertex and self-energy corrections in one-dimensional systems, which is responsible for the fact that the random-phase approximation (RPA) for the density-density correlation function is exact in d=1, exists also in d>1, provided (1) the interaction cutoff ${\mathit{q}}_{\mathit{c}}$ is small compared with ${\mathit{k}}_{\mathit{F}}$, and (2) the energy dispersion is locally linearized at the Fermi surface. Finally, we suggest a systematic method to calculate corrections to the RPA, which is based on the perturbative calculation of the irreducible bosonic self-energy arising from the non-Gaussian terms of the bosonized Hamiltonian.

The Kitaev honeycomb model on surfaces of genus g ≥ 2

John Brennan, Jiří Vala

We present a construction of the Kitaev honeycomb lattice model on an arbitrary higher genus surface. We first generalize the exact solution of the model based on the Jordan–Wigner fermionization to a surface with genus g = 2, and then use this as a basic module to extend the solution to lattices of arbitrary genus. We demonstrate our method by calculating the ground states of the model in both the Abelian doubled phase and the non-Abelian Ising topological phase on lattices with the genus up to g = 6. We verify the expected ground state degeneracy of the system in both topological phases and further illuminate the role of fermionic parity in the Abelian phase.

Bosonization in Higher Dimensions via Noncommutative Field Theory

Alexios P. Polychronakos

We propose the bosonization of a many-body fermion theory in D spatial dimensions through a noncommutative field theory on a (2D-1)-dimensional space. This theory leads to a chiral current algebra over the noncommutative space and reproduces the correct perturbative Hilbert space and excitation energies for the fermions. The validity of the method is demonstrated by bosonizing a two-dimensional gas of fermions in a harmonic trap.

An exact method for bosonizing the Fermi surface in arbitrary dimensions

Takamori Park, Leon Balents

Inspired by the recent work by Delacretaz et. al. [Phys. Rev. Res. 4, 033131 (2022)], we rigorously derive an exact and simple method to bosonize a non-interacting fermionic system with a Fermi surface starting from a microscopic Hamiltonian. In the long-wavelength limit, we show that the derived bosonized action is exactly equivalent to the action obtained by Delacretaz et. al. In addition, we propose diagrammatic rules to evaluate correlation functions using our bosonized theory and demonstrate these rules by calculating the three- and four-point density correlation functions. We also consider a general density-density interaction and show that the simplest approximation in our bosonic theory is identical to RPA results.

Calculation of fermionic Green functions with Grassmann higher-order tensor renormalization group

Yusuke Yoshimura, Y. Kuramashi, Yoshifumi Nakamura +2 more

We develop a calculational method for fermionic Green functions in the framework of Grassmann higher-order tensor renormalization group. The validity of the method is tested by applying it to the three-dimensional free Wilson fermion system. We compare the numerical results for the chiral condensate and two-point correlation functions with the exact ones obtained by analytical methods.
