Average entanglement of spin 1 and 1/2 pair

Abstract

Abstract We study the entanglement features of the ground state of a system composed of spin 1 and 1/2 parts. In the light of the ground state degeneracy, the notion of average entanglement is used to measure the entanglement of the Hilbert subspace. The entanglement properties of both a general superposition as well as the mixture of the degenerate ground states are discussed by means of average entanglement and the negativity respectively.

Entanglement of degenerate ground state for spin 1 and 1/2 pair

You‐Quan Li, Guo‐Qiang Zhu, Xuean Zhao

We study the entanglement feature of the ground state of a system composed of spin 1 and 1/2 parts. The concurrence vector is shown to be consistent with the measurement of von Neumann entropy for such system. In the light of the ground state degeneracy, we suggest a average concurrence to measure the entanglement of Hilbert subspace. The entanglement property of both a general superposition as well as the mixture of the degenerate ground states are discussed by means of average concurrence and the negativity respectively.

Frustration, entanglement, and correlations in quantum many-body systems

Ugo Marzolino, S. M. Giampaolo, Fabrizio Illuminati

We derive an exact lower bound to a universal measure of frustration in degenerate ground states of quantum many-body systems. The bound results in the sum of two contributions: entanglement and classical correlations arising from local measurements. We show that average frustration properties are completely determined by the behavior of the maximally mixed ground state. We identify sufficient conditions for a quantum spin system to saturate the bound, and for models with twofold degeneracy we prove that average and local frustration coincide.

Quantum entanglement in a mixed-spin trimer: Effects of a magnetic field and heterogeneous g factors

Zhirayr Adamyan, Vadim Ohanyan

Mixed spin-(1/2,1/2,1) trimer with two different Landé g factors and two different exchange couplings is considered. The main feature of the model is nonconserving magnetization. The Hamiltonian of the system is diagonalized analytically. We presented a detailed analysis of the ground-state properties, revealing several possible ground-state phase diagrams and magnetization profiles. The main focus is on how nonconserving magnetization affects quantum entanglement. We have found that nonconserving magnetization can bring a continuous dependence of the entanglement quantifying parameter (negativity) on the magnetic field within the same eigenstate, while for the case of uniform g factors it is a constant. The main result is an essential enhancement of the entanglement in the case of uniform couplings for one pair of spins caused by an arbitrary small difference in the values of g factors. This enhancement is robust and brings almost a sevenfold increase of the negativity. We have also found a weakening of entanglement for other cases. Thus, nonconserving magnetization offers a broad opportunity to manipulate the entanglement by means of a magnetic field.

Factorization and entanglement in general XYZ spin arrays in nonuniform transverse fields

R. Rossignoli, N. Canosa, J. M. Matera

We determine the conditions for the existence of a pair of degenerate parity breaking separable eigenstates in general arrays of arbitrary spins connected through $XYZ$ couplings of arbitrary range and placed in a transverse field, not necessarily uniform. Sufficient conditions under which they are ground states are also provided. It is then shown that in finite chains, the associated definite parity states, which represent the actual ground state in the immediate vicinity of separability, can exhibit entanglement between any two spins regardless of the coupling range or separation, with the reduced state of any two subsystems equivalent to that of pair of qubits in an entangled mixed state. The corresponding concurrences and negativities are exactly determined. The same properties persist in the mixture of both definite parity states. These effects become specially relevant in systems close to the $XXZ$ limit. The possibility of field induced alternating separable solutions with controllable entanglement side limits is also discussed. Illustrative numerical results for the negativity between the first and the ${j}^{\text{th}}$ spin in an open spin $s$ chain for different values of $s$ and $j$ are as well provided.

Measures of quantum entanglement

Igor Bajo

We present measures of bipartite entanglement in the multiparticle spin-1/2 systems. We also touch on the phenomenon of Quantum Phase Transitions and spin coupling. In the end we create a Python code for graphical visualisation of entanglement in relation to ground state energy behaviour. 1

EXPLORING ENTANGLEMENT IN QUANTUM SYSTEMS WITH DEGENERATE GROUND STATE

V. S. Okatev, O. M. Sotnikov, В. В. Мазуренко

We develop an approach to characterize correlations in quantum systems with degenerate ground states. It includes generation of the random linear combinations of the eigenfunctions obtained with exact diagonalization and calculation of their entanglement entropy. For tests the Ising model was used.
