INTEGRABLE SYSTEMS ON OPEN CHAINS WITH QUANTUM SUPERSYMMETRY

Abstract

It is demonstrated how one may derive quantum supersymmetric integrable models on an open chain corresponding to (affinizable) irreducible representations of a quantum superalgebra. A new procedure for constructing the transfer matrix is obtained and an expression for the Hamiltonian is given. Applications to Uq(gl(m|n)) invariant systems are discussed in detail. As examples, the q-analogues of several known integrable correlated electron models are presented.

Integrability of strongly correlated electron systems on open chains

Integrability of strongly correlated electron systems on open chains XIANG-YU GEIn recent years, there has been a strong increase of interest in models of strongly correlated electron systems in condensed matter physics, in particular in integrable onedimensional models.Examples of such models are the one-dimensional Hubbard model, the supersymmetric t-J model, the Hubbard-like model (Bariev's chain), the so-called extended Hubbard model (EKS model), the supersymmetric U model and the eight-state supersymmetric U model. The study of integrable open-boundary conditions for strongly correlated electron models is very important for physical applications, especially for gaining insights into the behaviour of more realistic systems. The important ingredient in Sklyanin's boundary quantum inverse scattering method (QISM), which has played a key role in recent advances in the study of lattice models with open-boundaries, is a new algebraic structure, the reflection equation algebra. In this thesis, a general graded reflection equation algebra is proposed and the corresponding graded (supersymmetry) boundary QISM is formulated. The formalism is applicable to all boundary lattice systems where an invertible i?-matrix exists. As applications, some important integrable boundary conditions for various strongly correlated electron models with quantum superalgebra symmetries are constructed, including:1. New R-matrices with non-additive spectral parameters and integrable models of strongly correlated fermions

Yao-Zhong Zhang, Jason L. Werry

Abstract We present a general formula for constructing R-matrices with non-additive spectral parameters associated with a type-I quantum superalgebra. The spectral parameters originate from two one-parameter families of inequivalent finite-dimensional irreducible representations of the quantum superalgebra upon which the R-matrix acts. Applying to the quantum superalgebra Uq(gl(2|1)), we obtain the explicit expression for the Uq(gl(2|1))− invariant R-matrix which is of non-difference form in spectral parameters. Using this R matrix we derive a new two-parameter integrable model of strongly correlated electrons with pure imaginary pair hopping terms.

ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF CORRELATION FUNCTIONS FOR THE INTEGRABLE SUPERSYMMETRIC FERMION MODELS

Shao-you Zhao A, Wen‐Li Yang, Yao-Zhong Zhang

We review the recent progress on the construction of the determinant representations of the correlation functions for the integrable supersymmetric fermion models. The factorizing F-matrices (or the so-called F-basis) play an important role in the construction. In the F-basis, the creation (and the annihilation) operators and the Bethe states of the integrable models are given in completely symmetric forms. This leads to the determinant representations of the scalar products of the Bethe states for the models. Based on the scalar products, the determinant representations of the correlation functions may be obtained. As an example, in this review, we give the determinant representations of the two-point correlation function for the Uq(gl(2|1)) (i.e. q-deformed) supersymmetric t-J model. The determinant representations are useful for analyzing physical properties of the integrable models in the thermodynamical limit.

Supersymmetric quantum spin chains and classical integrable systems

Zengo Tsuboi, Anton Zabrodin, Andrei Vladimirovich Zotov

For integrable inhomogeneous supersymmetric spin chains (generalized graded magnets) constructed employing Y(gl(N|M))-invariant R-matrices in finite-dimensional representations we introduce the master T-operator which is a sort of generating function for the family of commuting quantum transfer matrices. Any eigenvalue of the master T-operator is the tau-function of the classical mKP hierarchy. It is a polynomial in the spectral parameter which is identified with the 0-th time of the hierarchy. This implies a remarkable relation between the quantum supersymmetric spin chains and classical many-body integrable systems of particles of the Ruijsenaars-Schneider type. As an outcome, we obtain a system of algebraic equations for the spectrum of the spin chain Hamiltonians.

INTEGRABILITY OF OPEN SPIN CHAINS WITH QUANTUM ALGEBRA SYMMETRY

Luca Mezincescu, Rafael I. Nepomechie

We construct an open quantum spin chain from the “twisted” [Formula: see text]R matrix in the fundamental representation which has the quantum algebra symmetry Uq[ su (2)]. This anisotropic spin-1 chain is different from the Uq[ su (2)]-invariant chain constructed from the “untwisted” [Formula: see text] spin-1 R matrix (namely, the spin-1 XXZ chain of Fateev-Zamolodchikov with boundary terms) but, nevertheless, is also completely integrable. We discuss the general case of an R matrix of the type g(k), where k∈{1, 2, 3}, and g is any simple Lie algebra.

QUANTUM SUPERSPIN CHAINS

Timothy H. Baker, Peter Jarvis

Supersymmetric formulations of spin-½ quantum chains, associated with integrable models, are considered. One class of super-extensions, based on low-dimensional classical and exceptional superalgebras containing sl(2), is illustrated with the case of osp(1/2). A more radical generalization, in which the algebra of Pauli matrices is identified with the algebra of supersymmetric quantum mechanics, is also presented, and some of its algebraic properties discussed.
