Abstract

In this Brief Report, we propose a potential scheme to implement one-way quantum computation with circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED). Large cluster states of charge qubits can be generated in just one step with a superconducting transmission line resonator (TLR) playing the role of a dispersive coupler. A single-qubit measurement in the arbitrary basis can be implemented using a single electron transistor with the help of one-qubit gates. By examining the main decoherence sources, we show that circuit QED is a promising architecture for one-way quantum computation.

Efficient One-Step Generation of Cluster State with Charge Qubits in Circuit QED

Wang Yi-min, Cheng-Zu Li

We propose theoretical schemes to generate highly entangled cluster state with superconducting qubits in a circuit QED architecture. Charge qubits are located inside a superconducting transmission line, which serves as a quantum data bus. We show that large clusters state can be efficiently generated in just one step with the long-range Ising-like unitary operators. The quantum operations which are generally realized by two coupling mechanisms: either voltage coupling or current coupling, depend only on global geometric features and are insensitive not only to the thermal state of the transmission line but also to certain random operation errors. Thus high-fidelity one-way quantum computation can be achieved.

Quantum State Transfer between Charge and Flux Qubits in Circuit-QED

WU Qin-Qin, Jie‐Qiao Liao, Kuang Le-Man

We propose a scheme to implement quantum state transfer in a hybrid circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED) system which consists of a superconducting charge qubit, a flux qubit, and a transmission line resonator (TLR). It is shown that quantum state transfer between the charge qubit and the flux qubit can be realized by using the TLR as the data bus.

Decoherence-free quantum dynamics in circuit QED system

Ping Liao, Qin-Qin Wu, Jie‐Qiao Liao +1 more

We study decoherence in a circuit QED system consisting of a charge qubit and two superconducting transmission line resonators (TLRs). We show that in the dispersive regime of the circuit QED system one TLR can be used as an auxiliary subsystem to realize decoherence-free quantum dynamics of the bipartite target system consisting of the charge qubit and the other TLR conditioned on the auxiliary TLR initially being a proper number state. Our study gives new insight into control and manipulation of decoherence in quantum systems.

Resonant quantum gates in circuit quantum electrodynamics

Géraldine Haack, Ferdinand Helmer, M. Mariantoni +2 more

We propose the implementation of fast resonant gates in circuit quantum electrodynamics for quantum information processing. We show how a suitable utilization of three-level superconducting qubits inside a resonator constitutes a key tool to perform diverse two-qubit resonant gates, improving the operation speed when compared to slower dispersive techniques. To illustrate the benefit of resonant two-qubit gates in circuit quantum electrodynamics, we consider the implementation of a two-dimensional cluster state in an array of $N\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}N$ superconducting qubits by using resonant controlled-phase and one-qubit gates, where the generation time grows linearly with $N$. For $N=3$, and taking into account decoherence mechanisms, a fidelity over 60% for the generation of this cluster state is obtained.

Coupling charge qubits via Raman transitions in circuit QED

Zhi‐Bo Feng

We propose a theoretical scheme to couple superconducting charge qubits (SCQs) via Raman transitions in a circuit QED architecture. Qubit array interacts a quantum data bus generated by a one-dimensional superconducting transmission line resonator (TLR). Based on the Raman transitions, the controllable and selective interqubit couplings mediated by the data bus can be obtained by just addressing the applied gate pulses, which provides the possibility for scaling up to many SCQs.

Holonomic Quantum Computation with All-Resonant Control in Circuit Quantum Electrodynamics

Zheng‐Yuan Xue, Jian Zhou, Yong Hu

The implementation of holonomic quantum computation in superconducting quantum circuits is challenging due to the general requirement of controllable complicated coupling between multi-level systems. In this Letter, we solve this problem by proposing a scalable circuit QED lattice with simple realization of the universal set of non-adiabatic holonomic quantum computation. Compared with existed proposals, here we can achieve both the single- and two- logical qubit gates in an unprecedented tunable and all-resonant way through a hybrid transmon-transmission-line encoding of the logical qubits in the decoherence-free subspaces. This distinct advantage thus leads to quantum gates with very fast speeds and consequently very high fidelities. Our scheme therefore paves a promising way towards the realization of high fidelity universal holonomic quantum computation.
