Transferring anN-atom state between two distant cavities via an optical fiber

Abstract

This paper proposes a scheme for transferring an N -atom state between two distant cavities via an optical fiber. The scheme is based on adiabatic passage along a dark state. In the scheme, all the atoms are always in ground state, the field mode of the fiber remains in vacuum state, and the field mode of the cavities being excited can be negligible under certain conditions. Therefore, the scheme is very robust against decoherence. The successful probability of implementing the quantum state transfer increases with increasing number of atoms. Furthermore, the interaction time does not need to be accurately adjusted as long as the adiabaticity condition is fulfilled.

Quantum state transfer between distant nodes of a quantum network via adiabatic passage

A scheme is presented to realize transfer of a three-dimensional quantum state between two atoms trapped in distant cavities connected by an optical fiber, whose mode is resonant with the polarization cavity modes. Performing an adiabatic passage along dark states, the fiber mode remains in the vacuum state and the population of the cavities being excited can be negligible under certain conditions. In addition, atomic transitions in our scheme are largely detuned from cavity modes. As a consequence, the atomic spontaneous emission and the fiber decay can be effectively eliminated. Furthermore, we give some discussions about the fidelity of our scheme.

Quantum state transfer between atomic ensembles trapped in separate cavities via adiabatic passage

Chun‐Ling Zhang, Meifeng Chen

We propose a new approach for quantum state transfer (QST) between atomic ensembles separately trapped in two distant cavities connected by an optical fiber via adiabatic passage. The three-level Λ-type atoms in each ensemble dispersively interact with the nonresonant classical field and cavity mode. By choosing appropriate parameters of the system, the effective Hamiltonian describes two atomic ensembles interacting with “the same cavity mode” and has a dark state. Consequently, the QST between atomic ensembles can be implemented via adiabatic passage. Numerical calculations show that the scheme is robust against moderate fluctuations of the experimental parameters. In addition, the effect of decoherence can be suppressed effectively. The idea provides a scalable way to an atomic-ensemble-based quantum network, which may be reachable with currently available technology.

Deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement for two atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities

A scheme is proposed for the deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement of two distant atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities connected by an optical fiber. Employing adiabatic passage along dark states, the atoms are always in ground states, in particular, the fiber mode remains in the vacuum state due to the quantum destructive interference, and the population of the cavities being excited can be negligible under certain conditions. In this sense, our scheme constructs an effective way to avoid the atomic spontaneous emission and the decays of fiber and cavities.

Quantum state transfer via adiabatic passage

Chen Mei-Ying, Xiu‐Min Lin, Zhihua Chen

Based on adiabatic passage, we propose a scheme for implementing the quantum transfer of an unknown atomic state. In our scheme, we utilize photons for ideal quantum transmission between two cavities with the successful probability being about 1. Meanwhile, the scheme is robust against the effects of atomic spontaneous emission. It may be useful for transferring quantum information among spatially distant atoms.

A scheme for quantum state transfer between distant atoms

Yong-Cheng Ou, Zhiming Zhang

A scheme is proposed to implement quantum state transfer between two distant atoms through sending the atoms across two distant cavities connected via an optical fiber. The field state, which preserves the information of the first atom, is transmitted from one cavity to the other along the fiber. After the field interacts with the second atom for a defined time, the state transfer can be accomplished with unit efficiency. The realization of this scheme is within current experiment technology.
