THERMOFIELD ANALYSIS OF MAGNON SQUEEZING STATE IN THE FERROMAGNET

Abstract

In this paper, we introduce the self-consistent field approximation to treat with the nonlinear interaction among spin waves. Then temperature-dependent Bogoliubov transformation is introduced to generate a new representation which engenders the transition from the zero temperature to the finite temperature. At last, temperature-dependent quantum fluctuation properties of magnons are discussed in the thermal field. At lower temperature, we find that the fluctuation of spin-component at some given time regions can be below the zero-point fluctuation level of the vacuum state and exhibit a periodical squeezing behavior. In particular, these squeezed effects vanish with the increasing of temperature. These squeezing effects differ from the previous studies.

Quasiprobability Distribution of Squeezed Thermal Spin States in Ferromagnet

QINFENG XU, Ze Cheng

We study squeezed properties of magnon squeezed thermal spin states by using the distribution of Q function in the ferromagnet. It is found that the distribution of Q function strongly depends on the temperature T and coupling parameter γ. Below the transition temperature T c , the distribution Q function in the squeezed thermal spin state presents a richer structure than in the normal state. Non-classical effects have been observed. In the transition from the normal to the squeezed thermal spin state, the phase symmetry of the magnon system is spontaneously broken.

HIGHER-ORDER FLUCTUATIONS IN COHERENT STATES AND SQUEEZED STATES WITH THERMAL NOISE

Chuan-hua Dong, 上海大学物理系,上海 200072

By making use of thermo-field dynamics(TFD),higher-order fluctuations and higher-order squeezing of quadrature components for coherent states and squeezed states with thermal noise have been studied. The higher-order fluctuations of the phase for these thermalized states have been investigated using the concept of measured phase operators. Thus the dependence of the lower-and higher-order fluctuations and squeezing on temperature in these states at finite temperature can be seen.It is significant to discuss the effect of temperature on the fluctuations and squeezing, since the states of real field are always at finite temperatures.

Steady-squeezed-state generation via Kerr nonlinearity in cavity magnonics system

Jia-Xin Wang, Qi Guo, Yuchi Zhang +2 more

Abstract We propose a scheme to generate squeezed states in a cross-shaped cavity magnonics system by Kerr effect originating from the magnetocrystalline anisotropy. The system consists of two microwave cavities and a yttrium iron garnet sphere supporting a magnon mode embodying the collective spin motion, and each cavity mode is coupled with the magnon mode through the magnetic-dipole interaction. It is demonstrated that simultaneous squeezing of the two microwave cavity modes and the magnon mode can be achieved due to Kerr nonlinearity, and the squeezing of the magnon mode can break the 3 dB limit. By utilizing a Bogoliubov transformation, a new perspective on the underlying physical mechanism for the generation of the squeezing using Kerr nonlinearity is provided. Moreover, we also demonstrate the strong robustness of the magnon mode’s squeezing against the system dissipation and environmental temperature. The present scheme provides a promising platform for quantum information processing, holding significant implications for quantum metrology and precision measurement.

Quantum and Thermal Fluctuations in the Ising Chains: A Case Study of Spin-Two System

S. Ehika, O. J. Ataman, SE Iyayi

For a system at absolute zero temperature, all thermal fluctuations are frozen out, while quantum fluctuations prevail. These microscopic quantum fluctuations can induce a quantum phase transition (QPT) in the ground state of a many-body system when the relative strength of two competing energy terms is varied across a critical value. This paper presents a detailed and quantitative study of the magnetic properties of Ising two-spin system at zero temperature in the presence of longitudinal, transverse and mixed fields, and also at finite temperatures. At the critical longitudinal magnetic field, the system is found to undergo a QPT to a ferromagnetic state. For this system, an infinitesimal departure from zero transverse field is found to trigger off QPT and also remove the degeneracies that persisted even in the presence of longitudinal field. These quantum fluctuations, leading to QPT are more evident in the mixed field than the separate effect of longitudinal and transverse fields. The observed quantum effects at zero temperature for this system are found to be completely wiped out at finite temperatures due to thermal fluctuations.A temperature increase favours antiferromagnetic alignment of spins, while a decrease in temperature favours ferromagnetic alignment.

Quantum fluctuations and phase transitions in antiferromagnetic spin configurations

Damian van de Heisteeg

In this thesis we consider quantum fluctuations in the ground state energy of antiferromagnetic spin configurations, and phase transitions between these configurations. We use a Holstein-Primakoff transformation up to second order to transform our spin operators, and a Bogoliubov transformation to diagonalize the corresponding Hamiltonian. First we consider a Hamiltonian with Heisenberg-exchange interaction, a magnetic field and anisotropy, for which we investigated both the the antiferromagnetic phase and the spin-flop phase. For the antiferromagnetic phase we find that quantum fluctuations lower the ground state energy. For the spin-flop phase we find that quantum fluctuations lower the ground state energy even more, such that the phase transition point between these phases is shifted to a slightly lower strength of the magnetic field. Furthermore, this shifted phase transition is caused by ground state energies of the spin-flop phase that become complex, instead of an energy crossing. This energy takes on complex values due to imaginary eigenvalues for magnons, which correspond to exponentially increasing semi-classical spin waves.\n\nNext we considered the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) in one dimension, with the spiral phase it induces. We focused on the magnetic frustration of this phase due to anisotropy and the magnetic field. We used a superposition of two plane waves to describe the deviation due to this frustration, and minimized the ground state energy for their amplitudes numerically. By assuming only spirals of integer length and periodic boundary conditions, we constructed a semi-classical ground state phase diagram between the three mentioned phases. This phase diagram suggests a triple point between these phases when the DMI is zero, at the semi-classical phase transition point between the spin-flop phase and antiferromagnetic phase.
