Abstract

The enhancement of the intracavity entanglement of a nonlinear coupler via homodyne-mediated quantum feedback is investigated. It is found that the feedback can effectively enhance the squeezing, entanglement and purity of a two-mode field in the nonlinear coupler by appropriately choosing the quadrature angle at which the quantum feedback is introduced.

Quantum-feedback-induced enhancement of continuous-variable entanglement in a self-phase-locked type-II nondegenerate optical parameter oscillator

Gao‐xiang Li, Huatang Tan, Sha‐Sha Ke

We investigate the enhancement of the intracavity entanglement of a self-phase-locked type-II nondegenerate optical parameter oscillator (SPL NOPO) via homodyne-mediated quantum feedback. It is found that the feedback can effectively enhance the squeezing, entanglement, and purity of the two-mode field in the SPL NOPO. Especially for an ordinary NOPO, our feedback scheme can simulate a standard two-mode squeezed vacuum environment and a pure steady two-mode squeezed vacuum cavity field can be generated, different from the scheme proposed by Mancini [Phys. Rev. A 73, 010304(R) (2006)] in which only a mixed two-mode entangled state is generated.

Dynamical creation of entanglement by homodyne-mediated feedback

Jin Wang, Howard M. Wiseman, Gerard J Milburn

For two two-level atoms coupled to a single Bosonic mode that is driven and heavily damped, the steady state can be entangled by resonantly driving the system [S. Schneider and G. J. Milburn, Phys. Rev. A 65, 042107 (2002)]. We present a scheme to significantly increase the steady-state entanglement by using homodyne-mediated feedback, in which the Bosonic mode is that of an electromagnetic cavity, the output of which is measured and the resulting homodyne photocurrent is used to modulate the field driving the qubits. Such feedback can increase the nonlinear response to both the decoherence process of the two-qubit system and the coherent evolution of individual qubits. We present the properties of the entangled states using the SO(3) $Q$ function.

Optomechanical entanglement of a macroscopic oscillator by quantum feedback

E Wu, FengZhi Li, Xuefeng Zhang +1 more

We propose a scheme to generate the case of macroscopic entanglement in the optomechanical system, which consist of Fabry–Perot cavity and a mechanical oscillator by applying a homodyne-mediated quantum feedback. We explore the effect of feedback on the entanglement in vacuum and coherent state, respectively. The results show that the introduction of quantum feedback can increase the entanglement effectively between the cavity mode and the oscillator mode.

Quantum correlations in optomechanical system in the presence of optical feedback

Sitotaw Eshete

In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of quantum correlations for the continuous-variable bipartite optomechanical system in the presence of homodyne mediated quantum feedback. The system is constructed using the Fabry–Perot cavity and a mechanical oscillator. In detail, we have studied the quantum entanglement via logarithmic negativity, quantum discord, and quantum steering between the optical and mechanical modes. The results show that the maximum entanglement between the optical and mechanical modes occurred out of the resonance frequency at the steady-state region due to the presence of the optical feedback. We also employ quantum steering to see the steerability between the modes. It is observed that the quantum entanglement increases when the effective detuning frequency increases, however, the quantum discord and steering decrease when the effective detuning frequency increases for a given quantum feedback strength with other parameters of the system are to be fixed. Moreover, the presence of quantum feedback has an enhancement effect on the quantum correlations.

Generation of Two-Mode Squeezing and Continuous Variable Entanglement in a Nonlinear Coupler Inside a Optical Cavity

Hua Tan

The generation of two-mode squeezed and entangled light in a nonlinear coupler inside an optical cavity was studied. The master equation of the two-mode field was solved by the method of characteristic function. It shows that the state of the two-mode field is a two-mode Gaussian one,and under some conditions, the two-mode cavity field exhibits stable two-mode squeezing and continuous variable entanglement. The degree of the squeezing and entanglement is dependent on the damping rate of the cavity field and the coupling constants between the two modes.

Squeezing via feedback

Howard M. Wiseman, Gerard J Milburn

We present the quantum theory of optical cavity feedback mediated by homodyne detection, with an arbitrary time delay. We apply this theory to a system with nonclassical dynamics, a sub-Poissonian pumped laser. By using the feedback to phase lock the laser it is possible to produce output light which exhibits perfect quadrature squeezing on resonance, rather than just sub-Poissonian intensity statistics. However, we also show that feedback mediated by homodyne detection (or any other extracavity measurement) cannot produce nonclassical light unless the cavity dynamics can do so without feedback. Furthermore, in systems which already exhibit squeezing, such feedback can only degrade the squeezing in the output. With feedback mediated by an intracavity measurement, these theorems do not apply. We show that an (admittedly unrealistic) intracavity quantum nondemolition quadrature measurement allows arbitrary squeezing to be produced by controlling the amplitude of a coherent driving field.
