Calculation of nonlinear resonant Raman effect cross sections in intense laser and magnetic fields

T. Ya. Karagodova

The method of computer simulations on nonlinear resonant magnetooptical effects developed for the first time for real multilevel atoms in the two laser fields of arbitrary intensity and external magnetic field is applied for Raman-effect cross section calculations and investigations of the dependence on magnetic field strength, intensities, detunings of laser fields for alkaline atoms, thallium. Calculations of nonlinear resonant Raman-effect cross- sections in the intense laser fields resonant to adjacent transitions and magnetic field show the opportunity of appearing of the new effects in Raman scattering in atomic gases.

Power Broadening and Two-photon Correlations in Two-atom Resonance Fluorescence

Thomas Richter

The cooperative resonance fluorescence radiation from two atoms separated by an arbitrary distance and driven by a coherent laser field is studied, taking into account the dipole-dipole near-field interaction. The steady-state total scattering intensity, as a function of laser frequency and field strength, differs considerably from the single-atom one for sufficiently small distances. Photon bunching and antibunching occur in the scattered radiation depending on the laser frequency. Practically a full antibunching effect is found, especially if the laser is tuned to resonance with a transition frequency of the two-atom system. This is in contrast to a recent result of Agarwal et al., who studied the two-atom system but neglected the frequency splitting due to the dipole-dipole near-field interaction.

Antibunching of Light in Coherent Anti-Stokes Hyper Raman Scattering

Priyanka, Simranjot Kaur, Jawahar Lal

This paper aims to study the photons antibunching in the fundamental, Stokes and signal modes of CAHRS (coherent anti-Stokes hyper Raman scattering). The generalized interaction Hamiltonian was calculated for different conditions in the Heisenberg picture under short time approximation to observe photons antibunching in the fundamental, Stokes and signal modes of CAHRS. It has been found that antibunching in the fundamental field is dependent upon interaction time, photons number, and coupling strength of field. Third order photon antibunching is found to be nonclassical to a greater extent than second- and first-order photon antibunching for the identical pump photons count. It has been also observed that the effect of photon antibunching in Stokes and signal modes is less prominent than in the fundamental- mode. Furthermore, it is also found that antibunching will increase at short interaction timeswith the increase of depth of nonclassical behavior. Finally, the extent of photons antibunching peaks precisely where the second correlation function is lowest.
