Abstract

We calculate information theoretic spreading measures of the position and momentum wave functions of the symmetric trigonometric Rose–Morse potential for the states . The position space Renyi entropy, Fisher entropy and their corresponding entropic lengths are presented analytically for . The momentum space Renyi entropy and the Renyi lengths are calculated analytically for n = 0,1 and are calculated numerically for . We also calculated the Fisher entropy and the Fisher lengths in the momentum space numerically for .

Position and momentum information‐theoretic measures of the pseudoharmonic potential

W. A. Yahya, K. J. Oyewumi, K. D. Sen

In this study, the information‐theoretic measures in both the position and momentum spaces for the pseudoharmonic potential using Fisher information, Shannon entropy, Renyi entropy, Tsallis entropy, and Onicescu information energy are investigated analytically and numerically. The results obtained are applied to some diatomic molecules. The Renyi and Tsallis entropies are analytically obtained in position space using Srivastava–Niukkanen linearization formula in terms of the Lauricella hypergeometric function. Also, they are obtained in the momentum space in terms of the multivariate Bell polynomials of Combinatorics. We observed that the Fisher information increases with n in both the position and momentum spaces, but decreases with for all the diatomic molecules considered. The Shannon entropy also increases with increasing n in the position space and decreases with increasing . The variations of the Renyi and Tsallis entropies with are also discussed. The exact and numerical values of the Onicescu information energy are also obtained, after which the ratio of information‐theoretic impetuses to lengths for Fisher, Shannon, and Renyi are obtained. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Quantum information entropies of the eigenstates for a symmetrically trigonometric Rosen–Morse potential

Guo-Hua Sun, Shi‐Hai Dong

Shannon entropy for the position and momentum eigenstates of the symmetrically trigonometric Rosen–Morse potential for the lower states n = 1–4 is evaluated. The position information entropies S x for n = 1,2 are presented analytically. Some interesting features of the information entropy densities ρ s ( x ) and ρ s ( p ) are demonstrated graphically. We find that the ρ s ( p ) is inversely proportional to the range of potential a and the S x decreases with increasing the potential depth D . In particular, we note that the S x might become negative for some given parameters a and D . The Bialynicki-Birula–Mycielski inequality is also tested for a number of states and is found to generally hold well.

Abstract Shannon entropy for the position and momentum eigenstates of an asymmetric trigonometric Rosen–Morse potential for the ground and first excited states is evaluated. The position and momentum information entropies and are calculated numerically. Also, it is found that is obtained analytically and increases with the potential depth and width. Some interesting features of the information entropy densities and are demonstrated graphically. The Bialynicki‐Birula–Mycielski inequality is also tested and found to hold good.

Information entropies for the Morse potential using the J-matrix method

Mohamed S. Abdelmonem, Afaf Abdel‐Hady, Ibraheem M. Nasser

Information entropies, such as Shannon, Fisher and Rényi entropies, with their associated quantities, are calculated and discussed for the Morse potential in the position ( r ) and momentum ( p ) spaces using the J-matrix method. The entropies, for the s-wave, are numerically obtained for the diatomic molecules H 2 and LiH. It is the first information entropy calculation for real diatomic molecules using the Morse potential. Interesting characteristic features of the entropy densities are shown, where the position and momentum space information entropies satisfy the uncertainty relations.

Information and complexity measures for the ring-shaped modified Kratzer potential †

W. A. Yahya, K. J. Oyewumi, K. D. Sen

There has been an interest in studies on informationtheoretic and complexity measures for quantum model systems in the recent years. The information entropy for the trigonometric Rosen-Morse potential, harmonic oscillator, hydrogenic atoms, Morse potential, Yukawa and Hulthen potentials have been investigated. The Kratzer potential plays an important role in atomic and molecular physics and quantum chemistry. Cheng and Dai proposed a new potential consisting of the modified Kratzer potential plus a new proposed ring-shaped potential which has possible applications to ring-shaped organic molecules like cyclic polyenes and benzene. In this work, we shall obtain the Fisher information, Fisher length, Shannon entropy, Shannon length, Renyi entropy, Renyi length, Tsallis entropy and the Fisher-Shannon complexity for the ring-shaped modified Kratzer potential. In this section, we present the definition of the information theoretical measures used in this work which are based on the 1-normalized electron density in the position and momentum space. The Shannon information entropy in the position space is given by Eq. (1). ( ) ( ) log ( )d S ρ ρ ρ = −∫ r r r ... (1)

Information-theoretic measures for Morse and Pöschl–Teller potentials

J. S. Dehesa, Andrei Martı́nez-Finkelshtein, Vladimir Nikolaevich Sorokin

The spreading of the quantum-mechanical probability cloud for the ground state of the Morse and modified Pöschl–Teller potentials, which controls the chemical and physical properties of some molecular systems, is studied in position and momentum space by means of global (Shannon's information entropy, variance) and local (Fisher's information) information-theoretic measures. We establish a general relation between variance and Fisher's information, proving that, in the case of a real-valued and symmetric wavefunction, the well-known Cramer–Rao and Heisenberg uncertainty inequalities are equivalent. Finally, we discuss the asymptotics of all three information measures, showing that the ground state of these potentials saturates all the uncertainty relations in an appropriate limit of the parameter.
